City of Jasper crews dealing with massive 10-inch water line break near the railroad tracks. Shown is a crew burying a fiber optics cable in the area, which cut the water line, according to Mayor John Weaver. Tracks are flooded in area behind courthouse, with water running into courthouse parking lots. It's possible this could lead to some water outages. Weaver said they are using different valves to "backflow" and avoid outages.
A February 14, 2016 wreck involving a Pickens County Sheriff's Deputy left both the deputy and another motorist badly injured. The GSP has recently completed a report on the incident.
Appalachian Judicial Circuit District Attorney Alison Sosebee confirmed Thursday her office has received the report on a February 14th wreck between a 23-year-old driver and a Pickens deputy compiled by the Ga. State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team – all 3,000 pages of it.
The Highway 515 crash left both the driver, Syndel Kabchef of Acworth, and veteran local officer, Sgt. Rick Hales, badly injured. Hales has been released from the hospital and rehabilitation center where he remained for months with spinal injuries but Hales continues to undergo physical therapy. He remains on leave as a deputy.

Residents warned not to touch them, call 911

December 5th was the regularly scheduled meeting of the Nelson City Council. The agenda was short to begin with but became shorter as the meeting progressed. The council was scheduled to hear the engineer’s report on the drainage issues on Cherokee and School streets. He was unable to attend the meeting because of a death in his family. The presentation will now be on December 15 at the work session/ public hearing.

Here are the steps for your child to get a letter back from Santa:
1. Have your child write a letter to Santa and place it in an envelope addressed to: Santa Claus, North Pole.
2. Later, when alone, open the envelope and write a personalized response.

The Supreme Court of Georgia has unanimously reversed the attempted extortion and perjury convictions against former DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer W. Burrell Ellis, Jr. for his alleged attempts to “shake down” a county contractor for campaign contributions.
