Rhoda Wynn
February 16, 1931 - May 29, 2016

    Mrs. Rhoda Lea Wynn, 85, of Jasper passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at her residence.  Born on February 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Rembert Oscar Parker and Dolly Odell Dean Parker. Mrs. Wynn was employed as a beautician for several years. 
    She was preceded in death by her husbands, John R. Wright, Jr. and Hiram Thomas Wynn; brother, Claude Parker; sisters, Dorothy Chambers, Lillie Mae Lacy, Mary Parker; and grandson,  Brian Dwayne Wright. 
    Survivors  include son, Johnny Lee Wright of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Paula Wright of Ranger, Jimmy and Charlotte Wright of Cartersville, Michael and Beth Wright of Fairmount; son, Greg Wright of Talking Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and James Smith of Jasper; brothers, William Parker of Canton, Thurston “Buck” Parker of Jasper, Bobby Parker of Ellijay; sisters, Bonnie Fountain of Jasper, Margaret Allen of Jasper, Sue Hyde of Talking Rock; grandchildren, Cindy and Wesley Sparks, David and Angie Wright, Melinda Wright, Kelley and Joseph Hightower,  Charlie and Suzanne Wright, Wesley and Terri Wright, Bobby Lee and Reuben Chandler, Adam Wright, Philip Wright, Cody Wright, Angel Wright, Joshua Wright, Matthew Wright, Chelsey Wright, Wendy and Jason McKinney, Tamara and Rodney King; great grandchildren, Audrey and Peyton Sparks, Lucy Wright, J. T. and Presley Hightower, Bryce Wright, Lexie Wright, Gracie Mulkey, Allie Mulkey, Mackenzie Wright, Jordan Chandler, Cody Chandler, Bubba Chandler, Hannah Wright, Sara Wright, Abigail Wright, Ava Wright, Brayden Johnson, Kobie Arnold, Austin Arnold, Victoria Wright, Christian Wright, Braxton Williamson, Gabbie McKinney and Tatum and Marley King.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Childers and Reverend Robert Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory in Jasper, Georgia.

William Donlevy
November 29, 1927 – May 27, 2016

    William Joseph Donlevy, 88, of Jasper passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at his home. He was born November 29, 1927 to Frank Morse Donlevy and Earline Kemper Donlevy in Savannah, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and then worked as an architect with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
    He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Donlevy of Jasper; daughter, Lynn Robb of Jasper; son, Michael Donlevy of Jasper; grandchildren, Jonathan Leake of Charlotte, NC, Christopher Leake of Jasper, Benjamin Leake of Atlanta, Allison Leake of Cartersville; great-grandchildren, Jackson Leake, Madisyn Leake, and Brody Leake.  Several other family members also survive.
    A memorial service was held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton Thursday, June 2, 2016.
    Arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory in Jasper, Georgia. 

David Brents

    David Otto Brents, 71, of Jasper, passed away Sunday May 29, 2016 at his residence from complications due to cancer.
    Mr. Brents was born on September 16, 1944 in Mobile, Alabama to Mary Kate and William C. Brents. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps where he fought during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Marine Corps he met and married Joyce Marie Shaffer in 1968.  He later joined the Dekalb County Police Department where, over the course of 25 years (1973 to 1998), he made his way to become Deputy Director of Public Safety over Communications. During his tenure with Dekalb County he designed and implemented world leading 9-1-1 systems. This led him to be invited by several U.S. States and the countries of Great Britain and China to come and speak with their police forces about 9-1-1 Communications Systems and also to be awarded a plaque in the Smithsonian for "Excellence in 9-1-1 Communications Systems". Upon retiring from the police force he joined the Gwinnett County School System where he worked at Lilburn Elementary School as their Technical Support Technician for 12 years (1998 to 2010). He studied Electrical Engineering at Southern Polytechnic State University and later went on to teach math and electronics evening classes there. He was licensed in 1991 by the FCC as a Commercial Radio Operator for repairing radios and televisions, which he did throughout his lifetime, as well as collecting vintage tube type radios. He was an avid admirer and collector of classic American cars and a lover of film noir movies of which he held an extensive collection. He cherished animals as companions and kept quite a few during his lifetime.
    He is survived by his wife, Joyce Brents of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Tim & Jenifer Brents of Jasper; two grandchildren, 10 brothers and four sisters.
    The memorial service was held at 11 a.mm Saturday, June 4, 2016 from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home.

Charlotte Bradley
May 12, 1936 - May 31, 2016

    Mrs. Charlotte Jean Bradley, 80 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday May 31, 2016 at Grandview Health Care in Jasper.
    As a loving mother and housewife, Mrs. Bradley is survived by her son, Robert Leonard Jr. of Woodstock; daughters, Robin Jean Leonard of Jasper, Debra Blanchard of Woodstock, and Becky Leonard of Jasper; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Pickens County Senior Center Site Counsel to go towards the senior center and meals on wheels. A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later time.

Barry McDaniel
December 9, 1973 - June 5, 2016

    Mr. Barry McDaniel, 42, of Jasper, passed away Sunday June 5, 2016 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
    Mr. McDaniel is survived by his parents, Frank & Deborah McDaniel of Jasper; grandparents, Ralph & Eloise Hendrix of Jasper and Delmer & Belle McDaniel of Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda & James Abbott of Jasper; and nephew and niece, Tristan and Annalise Abbott.
    The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday June 8, 2016 at Corinth Baptist Church with Revs. Richie Gibbs, Leroy Kelley, and Huey Holloway officiating. Interment at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Pallbearers are James Abbott, Tristan Abbott, Robert Clark, Daniel Rogers, Todd Dobson, Matthew Gibson, Carlos Hampton, Cody Ingram, David Lawson, and Matt Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are  Dean Cantrell, Jeff Cantrell, Tony West, Terry West, Cory West, Donnie Fowler, Tony Bryant, Les McDaniel, Blake McDaniel, and Paul Lee McDaniel.
    The family will accept flowers or donate to Corinth Baptist Church.

Bryan Emory

October 8, 1928 - June 7, 2016

    Mr. Bryan Clay Emory, 87, of Talking Rock, passed away early Tuesday morning at Grandview Healthcare in Jasper.  He was born in Jasper, October 8, 1928 to Roy and Betty Emory. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. 
    Mr. Emory was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Parker Emory.
    He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Law and Terry Jenkins of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Darlene Emory of Jasper; brother, Jack Emory of Talking Rock; sister, Dorothy Townsend of Talking Rock; grandchildren, Jason Weldy, Chris Weldy, Chad Emory, Chase Emory, Dillon Emory; great-grandchildren, Hunter Weldy, Kaitlyn Emory, and Sanoah Weldy.
    The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Danny Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at Talking Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. 
    Visitation will be at Roper Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and until the funeral hour on Thursday.

Marlene Riker
February 5, 1944 – June 6, 2016

    Marlene Riker, 72, of Fairmount passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at her home. 
    Marlene is survived by her husband, Charlie Riker of Fairmount; children, Cindy Robbins (Mike) of Jacksonville, Robert Johnson (Jayme) of Jacksonville; brothers, Carl Barkoskie of Screven, Georgia, Richard Barkoskie of Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Sarah Stalvey of St. Augustine, Florida; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
    She was preceded in death by son, Terry French.
    The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Roper Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9 from 6 until 8 p.m.  A private memorial service will be held in Jacksonville, Florida at a later date.
