Claude Allen
    Claude William Allen, age 95 of Canton, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 from complications of a heart attack.
    He was a WWII fighter pilot and a retired captain at Republic Airlines. The funeral was held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from the chapel at Darby Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Georgia National Cemetery. 
    He is preceded in death by hisfirst wife Barbara Allen, second wife Elaine Allen, son Dave Allen, brother Dalton Allen, and sister Clara Rivers.  He is survived by his son, Lee (Aurea) Allen of Fayetteville; his stepson, Edward (Schynell) Bragg of Chattanooga, TN.; and his stepdaughter, Susan Arp of Canton. Four grandchildren also survive and many nephews and nieces too numerous to name.
    The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.

Elene Bryant
April 15, 1935 – June 28, 2016

    Mrs. Elene Evans Bryant,  81, of Jasper, passed away at her home Tuesday, June 28, 2016.  She was born to Grady and Elberta Evans on April 15, 1935.
    She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Ricky Kirk of Jasper; sister, Veneda Stokes of Canton; grandchildren, Wesley and Kelly Kirk of Jasper; Seth and Pamela Kirk of Talking Rock; great-grandchildren, Dylan Romine, Zoe Kirk, Evan Kirk, Lane Kirk, and Nathan Kirk.  Several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Bryant.
    The funeral service was held at  2 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend James Thompson and Reverend Kenneth Kirk officiating. Interment followed in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.
    The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
    Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory.

Nora Davidson
December 25, 1913 –June 28, 2016

    Mrs. Louise Davidson, 102, of Jasper passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Cameron Hall Ellijay.  She was born December 25, 1913 to Charles Durbin and Anna Belle Lee in Connellsville, Pennsylvania.  She was married 78 years to Raymond Eugene Davidson.
    Mrs. Davidson is survived by daughters, Annette Rae Brooks of Woodstock, Coral Louise Shaull of California, Carolyn and Jim Cantrell of Marble Hill; grandchildren, Daniel Heath Greggs, Edward Ray Greggs, Terrell Cantrell; great-grandchildren, Brian Thomas Shaull, Kristin Rae Shaull, David Michael Shaull, Marlaine Elizabeth Greggs, Shawn Michael Greggs; and great-great-grandchild, Cameron Greggs.
    The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Kevin Roper officiating.  A graveside service and interment will be at Green Ridge Memorial Park in Connellsville, Pennsylvania.
    Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory.

Diane Green
    Mrs. Diane E. Green, 75, of Ball Ground, passed away Saturday July 2, 2016 at her residence.
    Mrs. Green is survived by her husband, Gary Green of Ball Ground; daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa & Joe Cataldo of Wantagh, NY, Kim Green of Commack, NY, and Dani & Frank Wahl of Hauppauge, NY; brother: Jimmy Southard of Colorado; sisters, Kathy Wright of Massappequa, NY, Ronnie Farrell of Port St. Luci, FL, Carol Southard of Massapequa, NY, and Pat Pentelari of Oak Beach, NY; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be held Wednesday July 6, 2016 from 4 until 6 p.m. The memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home.

Masonic resolution on the death of Brother Frank Whitmore
    To the Worshipful Master, Warden, and Brethren of Pickens Star Lodge #220 F&A.M. Jasper, Georgia
    Whereas, on June 23, 2016 it was the will of the Grand Architect of Heaven and Earth to call from Labor to Refreshment our beloved Brother Ben Frank Whitmore.
    And whereas we, his brethren, feel keenly his absence from our midst and while we humbly bow to the Will of our Infinite Creator, we desire to make a suitable Memorial, therefore:
    Be it resolved that Pickens Star Lodge No. 220 F&A.m. express to the family of our departed Brother, Deepest sympathy and wish to express our gratitude for his life of service among us.
    Be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the bereaved family of our departed brother.
    A copy to be spread on our minutes and a copy to be published in the Pickens County Progress.
