    Rev. Eric Shane Mayo, 43, of Jasper, GA passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at his residence.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Friday, July 15, 2016, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Wheeler, Rev. Alan Garrett, Rev. Nathan Smith and Rev. Adam Parker officiating.  
    Funeral Services for Family and Church Families were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Childers, Rev. Robert Allen, Rev. Buck Parker and Rev. Kenny Griffith officiating.  Internment to follow in the Mt. Calvary Church Cemetery.
    He was preceded in death by grandparents, Rev. C. & Ruby Chambers, John Henry & Pearl Gable, J. B. Mayo, Sr.
    Survivors include his wife, Ashley Mayo, Jasper; father, J. B. (Buddy) Mayo, Jr., Canton; mother, Evelyn Mayo, Canton;    father -in-law and mother-in-Law, Tommy & Sherry Gheesling, Jasper; son, Garrett Mayo, Jasper; daughter, Kaylin Mayo, Jasper; brother, J. B. & Donna Mayo, Canton; sister, Melissa (Missy) Brown, Canton;    sister, Rhonda (Cissy) & Scott Price, Canton; nephews, Andrew Waters, Chase Waters, Coty Mayo, Brandon Price, Levi Mayo;    niece, Amber Mayo; great nieces, Peyton, Briley, Harley, Lillie Ann, Gracie, Bethany. Several uncles, aunts, & cousins.

Susie Chester
    Susie Lee Chester, 87, of Dawsonville passed away Monday July 11, 2016 at Pruitt Health in Jasper following a period of declining health.
    Born March 25, 1929 to the late Earnest and Stella Mae Arrendale, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Susie was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and worked for a number of years at Amicalola Falls Lodge and Forrest Hills Resort. A loving mother and grandmother she was also preceded in death by her husband, L.B. Chester; sons, Jerry Chester, Jackie Chester, Scotty Chester; daughter, Carolyn Massey; granddaughter, Jill Kendall; brothers, Joe Arrendale, Seldon Arrendale.
    Surviving are her daughters and sons in law, Belinda and Steve Lowe, Jasper, Renee and Steve Haywood, Dawsonville, Kenny Massey, Jasper; daughter in law, Mary Chester, Dawsonville; brother and sisters in law, Cecil and Joyce Arrendale, Dahlonega, Berry Jo Arrendale, Dawsonville, Dora Arrendale, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Anita, Tina, Penny, Chelsey, Chris, Donna, Jesse, Carly; several great grandchildren; a number of other relatives.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Joel Crotzer will officiate.  Interment followed in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Alice Blackwell
    Mrs. Alice Faye Blackwell, 75, of Ranger, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family.  Alice was born August 1, 1941 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, a daughter of the late John Floyd and Eva Rouse Williams. 
    She is survived by husband, John Paul Blackwell of the residence; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Messex of Calhoun, GA, Darlene and Danny Childers of Ranger, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Rickey Carnes of Fairmount, GA, Michael and Kyla Blackwell of St. Marys, KS; brothers and sister-in-law,  Floyd and Peggy Williams, David Williams all of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Miranda and Jake Stowers, Dustin and Wendy Patterson, Bernadette and John Mueller, Catherine Blackwell, Raymond Blackwell, Faustina Blackwell, Justina Blackwell, Bernard Blackwell, Genevieve Blackwell, Sebastian Blackwell, Gianna Blackwell and Michael Blackwell; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Christian Stephens, Briley and Maisie Jenkins and Sawyer Patterson; several nieces and nephews.
    No services will be held at this time.

Jeff Adams
    Jeff Adams passed away July 5, 2016. Jeff is survived by his wife, Ann Adams; son, Devon Adams; his father, Gale England; mother, Sylvia Shaw; sister, Rebecca Joos of Jasper; brothers, Nathan England and Jody England; and sister, Deborah Northcutt. Jeff is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws, and friends that he held dear to his heart.
    In life Jeff lived the life of a good Christian, loving and helping all and any that he could. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sharing every moment in one of the best stories you could ever hear. We can find peace that he is hunting the giant timbers and fishing the crystal clear waters of heaven with passed loved ones. If there is one thing Jeff would want everyone to know it would be that God forgives and as His children we should too. Jeff your sister Becky, brother-in-law Marc, father Gale, niece and nephew love and hold you dear and will forever cherish your memory.

James Hyde
November 6, 1935 – July 11, 2016

    Mr. James Billy Hyde, 80, of Jasper, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.  James was born November 6, 1935 to William and Cleo Murphy Hyde in Jasper.
    He is survived by wife, Fairy Hyde of Jasper; niece, Trena Vick (William) of Jasper; caregiver, Troy Padgett of Jasper.  Several nieces and cousins also survive.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Banks and Reverend Billy Dodson officiating. Interment followed at Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with a Masonic Graveside Service.
    The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in honor of James.

Ruth Stanfield
February 26, 1929 – July 12, 2016

    Ina Ruth Stanfield, 87, of Talking Rock, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Canton Nursing Center in Canton.  Ruth was born February 26, 1929 to John and Amy Bell Wigington in Talking Rock. 
    She is survived by children, John Stanfield of Ball Ground, Deborah and Leon Gay of Canton, Casey Childers of Canton; sister-in-law, Pat Denson of Talking Rock; grandchildren, William Gay, Rebekah Gay, Seth Stanfield, Cade Stanfield; nieces, Sondra Jones, and Jackie Pool. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. “Bill” Stanfield and brother, W.H. Wigington.
    The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 14 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend David Stuart and Reverend Greg Pope officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
    The family accepted flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jasper in honor of Mrs. Stanfield.

Mary Pirkle
October 2, 1941 – July 13, 2016

    Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Pirkle, 74, of Ball Ground, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. She was born October 2, 1941 to James Howard Kendrick and Edith Georgianna Blackwell Kendrick in Pickens County.
    She is survived by daughters, Kathy and Wayne Higgins of Dawsonville, Becky and John Wilson of Ball Ground, Angela Chumley of Ball Ground; son, Atlas and Tabatha Chumley of Marble Hill; brothers and sisters, John Frank Kendrick of Yellow Creek, Estelle and James Roper of Yellow Creek, James Kendrick of Marble Hill, Sammy and Joyce Kendrick of Yellow Creek; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 16 at Yellow Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Wilkie, Reverend Mike Byess, and Reverend William Blackwell officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Bertha Padgett
February 2, 1951 – July 14, 2016

    Bertha Lou Padgett, 65, of Ball Ground, passed away July 14, 2016 at her home.  She was born February 2, 1951 to Joe and Rachel McAvoy Holloway in Tate.
    She is survived by daughters, Melissa Holland (Richard) of Atlanta, Meredith Padgett of Yellow Creek; grandson, Trenton Wilson of Tate; great-grandson, Aiden Wilson; brother, Leonard Holloway of Powder Springs.  Several nieces and nephews also survive. 
    Mrs. Padgett was preceded in death by grandson, Travis Wilson; brother, Wilburn Holloway; and sister, Clora Mae “Sis” Walker.

Masonic Resolution on the death of Brother James Billy Hyde
    To the Worshipful Master, Warden, and Brethren of Pickens Star Lodge #220 F&A.M. Jasper, Georgia
    Whereas, on July 11, 2016 it was the will of the Grand Architect of Heaven and Earth to call from Labor to Refreshment our beloved Brother James Billy Hyde.
    And whereas we, his brethren, feel keenly his absence from our midst and while we humbly bow to the Will of our Infinite Creator, we desire to make a suitable Memorial, therefore:
    Be it resolved that Pickens Star Lodge No. 220 F&A.M. express to the family of our departed Brother, deepest sympathy and wish to express our gratitude for his life of service among us.
    Be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the bereaved family of our departed brother.
