Anna Lindsay

 

Anna Jane Lindsay, 92, entered her heavenly home on Friday evening, October 14, 2016.  She was born December 29, 1923 and grew up in St Bernice, IN prior to marrying Robert Lindsay on March 12, 1944.  She was a World War II bride.  Bob and Janie, as they were affectionately called, made their home in Clinton, IN.  She moved to Jasper, GA after Bob’s passing five years ago to be closer to her children where her new Southern friends called her “Miss Anna.”

Jane was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. Her family was the most fulfilling part of her life and she is loved dearly.

Jane is survived by a daughter, Deleise of Jasper and a son, Blake of Conyers; four grandchildren, Shaun Allen, Vincent Allen and his wife Kylie, Justin Lindsay and Danielle Lindsay; one great granddaughter, Parker Allen. Also surviving are two brothers, Max and Merle Ritter and sister, Connie Tolley; several nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bob, her daughter-in-law, Michele Lindsay and parents, Paul and Thelma Ritter.

Funeral services were held at Frist Funeral Home on Friday, October 21, 2016. Jane was laid to rest next to Bob in Walnut Grove Cemetery.  There will be a local memorial service on Sunday, November 6th at 2 at Rock Creek Manor, 50 Cagle Mill Rd, Jasper.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jasper United Methodist Church, 85 West Church Street, Jasper, GA 30143.

 


Eva Bryant

March 3, 1930 - October 30, 2016

 

Mrs. Eva D. Bryant, 86, of Jasper, passed away Sunday October 30, 2016 at Grandview Health Care Center. 

Mrs. Bryant is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph & Sandra Bryant of Talking Rock and Ron Bryant of Marietta; daughters and son-in-law, Vivian Manoglu of Canton and Susan & Jimmy O'Sheilds of Jasper; brother, Donald Hammontree of Jasper; sister, Grace Fronebarger of Canton; and grandchildren, Tracy Bryant and Susan Manoglu. 

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Revs. Gene Childers and Buck Parker officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. 

The family will accept flowers or donate to American Lung Association.

Richard Young

April 10, 1956 - October 28, 2016

 

Mr. Richard Jimmy Young, 60, of Jasper, passed away Friday October 28, 2016 at his residence. 

Mr. Young is survived by his wife, JoAnn Young of Jasper; sons, Michael Young of Jasper and Jimmy Young of Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy & Carol Young of Jasper and Ricky & Vicky Young of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlyn & Dale Coggins of Resaca and Sarah & Jerry Wyman of Talking Rock; mother, Maggie Young of Jasper; and several nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Caylor officiating. Interment at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Timothy Young, Dustin Young, Lonnie Davis, Jerry Wyman, Eric Wyman, and Baron Booth.

The family will accept flowers or make donations to Cagle Funeral Home for the Richard Young memorial fund.

Sondra Cheshire

September 29, 1961 – October 26, 2016

 

Sondra Raye Cheshire, 55, of Jasper passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.  Sondra was born September 29, 1961 to Grady and Jesse Raye in Tate, Georgia.

She is survived by her husband, Barry Cheshire; sons and daughters-in-law, Joey and Jessie Cheshire of Free Home, Jamie and Emily Cheshire of Jasper; granddaughter, Emma Cheshire of Free Home; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Mark Holcomb of Ball Ground, Sylvia and Richard Bruce of Ball Ground; brother, Stephen Raye of Jasper; father-in-law, Raymond Cheshire of Ball Ground; and Godparents, Paul and Addie Kelley of Johns Creek.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Jessie Raye and mother-in-law, Frances Cheshire.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 29 at Sharp Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Phillip Burt and Reverend Greg Hamilton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers were Bubba Holcomb, Miles Childers, Slade Bruce, Corey Dabbs, Logan Raye, Ty Allen, and Keith Allen.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Boys and Girls Clubs (PO Box 649; Jasper, GA  30143) or Sharp Mountain Baptist Church.

Valerie Burgess

August 18, 1966 – October 29, 2016

 

Valerie Buchanan Burgess, 50, of Jasper passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.  

She is survived by her daughter, Vallon Burgess of Canton; parents, Lois Ledbetter of Jasper, James & Willene Buchanan of Jasper; grandmother, Minnie Wigington; and life partner, Bob Daubs of Jasper.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that Memorial Contributions be made to Pickens Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 45; Jasper, GA 30143.

 Duree Henderson

February 19, 1934 – October 30, 2016

 

Duree Thelma Jones Henderson, age 82, of Jasper passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Serenity Mountain Manor in Jasper.  Mrs. Henderson was born February 19, 1934 to Thelma and Arthur Jones. She was married to the late George Leon Henderson.

Mrs. Henderson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Fonda Henderson of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ben Fincher of Thomasville; grandchildren, Nathan and Courtney Henderson, Timmy Henderson, Caleb Henderson; great-grandchildren, Gemma Henderson, Wyatt Henderson, and Garrett Henderson.  She was preceded in death by son, Mark William Henderson and grandson, Lee Henderson.

The funeral service was  held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Dick Hester officiating.  Interment  followed at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell.

In memory of W.B. Ralph Talmadge Hendrix who died September 23rd, 2016. 

Once again death hath summoned a member of our Lodge, and the golden gateway to the Eternal City has opened with a welcome to home. The work of ministering to the wants of the afflicted, in shedding light into darkened souls and in bringing joy into the places of misery is completed, and as a reward has received the plaudit, “well done” from the Supreme Master.

And whereas the allwise and Merciful Master has called our beloved and respected member home; And whereas having been a true and faithful member of our Lodge, 

Therefore be it resolved that Marble Hill Lodge No. 207, F&A.M Marble Hill, Ga. in testimony of its loss, that we tender to the family of our deceased Member our sincere condolence in their deep affliction and that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family and published in the Pickens County Progress.
