Kirsten Lee and baby Chloe Angel Robertson of Ball Ground passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Kennestone Hospital.

Kirsten is survived by her husband: Dylan Robertson of Ball Ground; Daughter Kadie Robertson of Ball Ground; Father and Stepmother Jamie & Kelly Ray of Ball Ground; Mother and Stepfather Melissia and Kenny Weaver of Talking Rock;  Brothers: Cody Ray of Ball Ground and Cole Ray of Talking Rock; Step brothers Hunter Weaver of Talking Rock, Christopher Patterson of Jasper and Jacob Weaver of Jasper; Stepsisters: Hannah Weaver of Cleveland, GA. Shelby Downs of Ball Ground and Jillian Tucker of Rydal; Grandparents Jimmy & Norma Ray of Tate and Addline Hart of Jasper; Great-Grandparents: Emory Ray of Tate and Clair Cochran of Dawsonville; Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins as well as Nieces and Nephews.  

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. 

Pallbearers: Cody Ray, Cole Ray, Hunter Weaver, Jacob Weaver, Christopher Patterson, Brock Campbell, Jeremy Campbell and Tony Norsworthy

Interment was at Talking Rock Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.  

The family is accepting flowers or donations to Cagle Funeral Home to help the family with expenses.

Jessie Godfrey

June 1, 1924 – March 27, 2018

 

Mrs. Jessie Godfrey of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the age of 93.

She is survived by daughter, Ann Cain (Rick) of Jasper; grandson, Brannon Godfrey of Mableton; sisters, Shirley Grant of Jasper, Marie Stephens (James) of Holly Springs; brothers, Hobby Kirk, Norman Kirk, Donnie Kirk, Kenneth Kirk (Katheleen), Joe Kirk all of Talking Rock; special ex-daughter-in-law, Denise Godfrey of Mableton.  Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Godfrey; son, Timothy Godfrey; grandson, Daniel Godfrey; and brother, Bennie Kirk.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Roper Funeral Home with Brother Jason Segers and Reverend Bobby McFarland officiating.  Interment followed at Talking Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pall bearers were Scott Kirk, Ricky Kirk, Ronnie Kirk, Danny Kirk, David Grant, and Scott Jackson.

Louis Briegel

Louis Richard Briegel, 92, of Jasper, GA passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Brian Center in Canton, GA.

He is survived by his wife, Deane Gooch Briegel of Jasper; sons, Louis Richard Briegel II of Canton and Michael William Briegel of Branchville, N.J.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen (Osborne) Briegel; son, Dale Robert Briegel and “daughter” Carol Roy Pierson.

A U.S. Army veteran stationed at the Pentagon during WWII, “Lou” was a career camping services director for various YMCA’s in Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey before his retirement. Upon retirement he enjoyed collecting and repairing antique clocks. He had previously been active in the Jasper Lions Club and volunteered at the Community Thrift Store.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date at the convenience of the family.

Mike Byess

Rev. Mike Byess, age 48, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Kennestone Hospital. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Bethesda Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Phillips, Rev. Sanford Fountain, Rev. Robby Chastain and Rev. Greg Long officiating. Interment followed in Arbor Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County with Red Wine Masonic Lodge # 174 in charge of graveside rites. 

Mike was a member of Arbor Hill Baptist Church in Pickens County and a Member and Past Master at Red Wine Masonic Lodge # 174. He was a Special Education Teacher at Teasley Middle School and served as Pastor for over 20 years at many churches in the north Georgia area. Mike enjoyed woodworking, cutting grass, riding motorcycles, his canine friend Charlie and most of all spending time with his family. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Byess; brother, Harold Byess and nephew, Clint Byess; Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Lisa Byess; children, Ashley (Casey) Davis, Sarah Byess (Michael Farrar), Jacob (Jordan) Byess and Elisabeth Byess; father and stepmother, Bill “Pa” and Jean Byess; siblings, Sherri (Brooke) Hilton and Joe (Selena) Byess; grandson, Ford Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.  

Flowers will be accepted or In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cherokee County Special Olympics or the American Heart Association in his memory.

William Hinton

William Knox Hinton passed away March 24th 2018, in Rogers Arkansas.   He was born in Tate Georgia May 2nd 1925, and Graduated from Tate High School.   He also graduated from Georgia Tech University with an Engineering Degree. He served With the Army Air Force  during World War II and earned an honorable discharge.  Upon his retirement from Lee Jeans, he and his Wife, Loree Hinton, returned to his family home in Tate GA for several years, before moving to Arkansas to be closer to his family.

He is survived by his sister Jane Presley of Evans Georgia, sons Mark Hinton of Issaquah Washington, Dan Hinton of Colorado Springs Colorado, daughter-in-law Constance Hinton of Buena Park Arkansas, and two Grandchildren, Sarah Hinton of Carthage, Missouri and Andrew Hinton of Fayetteville Arkansas and their families.  

A celebration of his life will be held at his later this spring.  In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
