Ernest N. Moore
Ernest N. Moore of Jasper, Georgia passed away the evening of October 17, 2018 at the age of 84 surrounded by his family at his recent new residence in Glendale, AZ after a series of unrecoverable illnesses.
Ernest was born March 27, 1934 on the kitchen table in his parents’ home on Indian Trail Road in Norcross, Georgia. He graduated from Sugar Hill High School at the age of 16 and then completed two years at Reinhardt College in Waleska, Georgia. In 1953, he enlisted in the Army and was assigned to be a field radio repairman in Germany where he was stationed. He returned to Georgia in 1954 and began his career in banking and finance. In December 1955, he met his wife, Jeanene, on a blind date and they were married six months later on June 30, 1956. Although they began their family right away, Ernest worked full-time and continued going to school at night at Georgia State University completing his bachelor’s degree in finance in 1964. He went on to have a successful career with C&S Bank, and an even more successful business when he started his own title company in 1986. Upon selling his title company in 1997, he and Jeanene retired to Jasper, Georgia in a beautiful mountain lakeside home. He enjoyed the next 20 years golfing, traveling and being with family & friends. Due to health reasons, they moved to Glendale, AZ in August 2018.
To merely list the above facts about Ernest doesn’t do him justice. He was funny, compassionate, loving, friendly, smart, talented (playing the piano by merely hearing a song), engaging, prudent, trustworthy, generous and most importantly had comfort in knowing he would be with God through his belief in Jesus. He provided many years of wonderful memories for his family and friends. As he would say “we had a good run.”
He is survived by his wife, Jeanene (Glendale, AZ); sister Mary Anna Allison-Houston (Cleveland, GA); daughter Cyndi Kennedy (Auburn, GA); daughter Donna Moore (Glendale, AZ); son David Moore (Atlanta, GA); grandsons Ethan & Evan Kennedy; great grandchildren Ella & Easton Kennedy; and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his mother, Maude; his father, Horace; his sister, Susan; and his brother, James.
Ernest had a strong allegiance to his alma mater, and a passion to enable others to get an education as he believed that education is what will make the world a better place. Therefore, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Reinhardt University Blanche Hagan United Methodist Scholarship fund, 7300 Reinhardt Circle, Waleska, GA 30183 (the donations can also be made online at www.reinhardt.edu; click on “Give”, designate “Other”, in the optional field type “Blanche Hagan United Methodist Scholarship Fund” and in the “leave a comment” field type “In memory of Ernest N. Moore”).
