Smoking Ban proposed for Roper Park

No-Smoking-Sign

Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em?
Not if the Pickens County Recreation Advisory Board gets their wish – a total ban of smoking at Roper Park facilities that would include the entire 40-plus acres of baseball fields, tracks, parking lots, the community center and the new Boys & Girls Club facility.

People that smoke will riot in the streets over this law, believe that! They know their rights. How dare these kids that play ball do so in a smoke-free environment? How dare people that don't smoke want to breathe fresh, mountain air when they attend events at that park. Good luck enforcing this if it does become law, I say. There'll be some real reality-show moments ripe for U-tube viewing when cops arrive to oust the perps. By the way, I'm a former smoker. I prefer smoke-free environments, but that's just me.

We have prohibited smoking on every campus -- everywhere-- because it is not safe our children. Shouldn't we also protect our children while they play at the Park? This should have been done LONG ago!
