Newton’s political future: ‘Who knows?’

     Two weeks after the May election, Bill Newton was undeterred by his third defeat to Rob Jones in the race for commission chair, clearly not ruling out a future foray back into politics.
     His history against Jones dates back to 2004 when then-incumbent sole commissioner Newton finished first but failed to capture a majority in a three-candidate GOP July primary. Newton then lost his post to Jones by 19 votes in the runoff, 2,829 to 2,810.
