VA clinic coming to Jasper

The VA clinic coming to this East Church Street spot, near Save-A-Lot, is expected to serve 6,000 veterans a year. It is slated to open in 2018.

The Atlanta VA Health Care System has entered into a lease agreement with AFTK, LLC that will bring a new VA clinic to Pickens County by next year.

According to Greg Kendall, Atlanta VA Medical Center public affairs officer, the Pickens County VA Clinic will provide primary care and mental health services to veterans in Pickens, Dawson, Cherokee, Gilmer, Lumpkin and surrounding counties.

We will certainly continue to cover it. The last we have heard from someone connected to the VA is that it is still coming. We'll continue to update it as/when developments and construction occurs.

According to a Dec. 28 article, we reported that the VA Clinic in Jasper is about halfway through the design phase with an estimated opening date of late 2018.

Any update as to when the clinic will be open? Currently driving to Oakwood it's nearly 90 miles 1 way. Blairsville isn't accepting new patients . Will be great to have a clinic close.

I now live in Cherokee county and will be a great savings in time and distance from going to Austell to that clinic, which is scheduled to move late this year to Cumberland shopping area. Need to know when I can sign up for the clinic.
