The Pickens County Animal Shelter is offering free dog adoptions through Saturday, Sept. 2.

Shelter director Jerry Watkins said they let people take dogs home for free when the population is too high.

“It’s a way for us to find homes when we get overloaded,” he said.

There are a variety of dogs currently available, just drop by the shelter during regular hours to meet them.

For dogs that are not already spayed or neutered, owners can take their adoption papers to Animal Medical Clinic and the surgery will be free of charge. The dogs will also get their rabies shot at that time.

Cats are currently available buy one get one free.

“You can get one for $50 or two for $50,” Watkins said. “A lot of the times people will take home two if they can get one free.”

The Pickens County Animal Shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are located at 3563 Camp Road, Jasper, Ga. 30143. They can be reached at 706-253-8983.

If only these idiot rednecks would stop birthing so many worthless babies; stop letting their dogs run free barking and fornicating all day, every day, this county would be such a better place to live. But no, everybody gotta have a dog. And everybody gotta have babies. And every redneck knows their rights. Don't tell them how they should treat pets. Hurry now, go git yir beer and cigarettes, redneck. Forget about feeding your pets and kids. Losers!
