Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park, Inc. (PCVMP) is moving along with some of the weather clearing up this month.  They say, “Three days rain will empty any sky.” Okay, so isn’t always true. But consider, we live in Georgia. We are moving forward, our flagpole has been installed and when the rain breaks the brick work for the monument for our branches of services will be installed next. So, continue to hope for clear weather in the coming weeks and our veteran’s memorial will be completed.

Ray Smith our senior VP/general manager with John Trammell, president & CEO of Community Bank of Pickens County are working to complete this memorial for our veterans. The community is asking what is this construction site at Lee Newton Park.  All you need to do is come by and see the progress by going by Lee Newton Park near the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce.

We also like to inform you our Bricks of Honor Program is still on going and if you wish to honor a veteran with a Brick of Honor it will be placed aside the walkway to remember those who served.  We are still accepting applications. Do you know anyone that served this great country?  This is your opportunity with the 500 bricks that have been donated to honor any veteran’s past, current or future with a place of honor at the Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park with a Brick of Honor! This memorial will stand the time to honor all veterans. The memorial will be dedicated to the five branches of the military service. The bricks are a tangible way of honoring your loved ones who served and reaffirming your commitment to this great country. For a $125 dollar donation your loved one will be honored for infinity.  PCVMP is a non-profit, tax exempt, 502© (3) organization and donations are tax deductible.

If you wish to donate in lieu of obtaining a Brick of Honor we have several ways you can make a tax-deductible donation. Please send your donation to PCVMP at Post Office Box 247, Talking Rock, GA 30175; Go to and Amazon donates to Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park Inc.;  and Facebook.

We want you to know we strongly believe in this mission and vision.

Our memorial will inspire a greater sense of patriotism to visitors of the site honoring all men and women of our military. We hope to develop a deeper appreciation and community awareness of our veterans whose names will be always remembered through the engraved bricks of honor given by those who love them.
