As of Tuesday morning, the Pickens Emergency Operations Center was active, but had not responded to any serious issues in Pickens County as a result of flooding across North Georgia. County Fire Chief Bob Howard said, “We had fared very well.” He said at one point there were seven secondary roads closed to thru traffic due to minor flooding, but on all roads, homeowners were able to reach their homes. The 911 Center reported light call volume and no weather related injuries. Pickens County did activate their “emergency operations center.” It had assisted by sending a fire truck and a rescue boat with personnel to Woodstock to help with evacuations there.
