1974 State Champions Recognized

50th anniversary of Dragonettes state championship

On Friday PHS hosted the Gilmer Bobcats in front of a standing room only and enthusiastic crowd. It was Dragonettes Alumni Night with a special recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Dragonettes State Championship. The Dragonettes finished that year with a 29-2 record. They still hold the school record for most wins in a season. They defeated Haralson County 44-36 for the state title in Macon.            Ellison Steinhauer recently broke Cathy Roland’s record for Field Goal Percentage that had stood for 50 years from that magical season. The 1974 state champions still hold the record for the longest winning streak at 21 games. It was tied two years ago in the 2021-2022 season.            It was a great night to once again celebrate the 1974 State Champion Dragonettes as well as all other Dragonettes alumni.
