Mrs. Medora Rebecca Clark Thompson, 92, of Jasper, passed away at her home on April 17, 2016. Medora was born in Rauchtown, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania on February 21, 1924; the oldest of two children of Elmer Edison Clark and Henrietta Grace Welshans Clark. She was raised on the family farm in Oval, PA and graduated from high school in Jersey Shores, PA.
She married Guy Harold Thompson on December 22, 1946. In 2013 they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. They had one daughter, Linda Susan Thompson Warren, who passed away in 1989.
She was a member of the Murphy Christian Fellowship, Murphy, NC. In 2003 they moved to the Jerusalem Community from Hayesville, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her only child. She is survived by her adopted family: Barbara Murphy Crane, Alan Crane and Bill and Caren Crane Tollner, her brother Robert Clark of Pennsylvania, five nieces and one nephew.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday April 19, 2016 from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Wheatcroft officiating. Pallbearers served: Pat Margo, Ray Cadwallader, Bob Payne, Bobby Cook, Roy Zimmerman, and Norman Zimmerman. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Janice Irene Ayres Van Horn passed away April 22, 2016, a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church in Cartersville, GA. She was born April 30, 1934, in Peoria, Illinois to the late Helen Kensinger Ayres and Frank Bernard Ayres. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert (Bob) and four daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Roger Waters of Orange Park, FL., Sherry and Rick Schillaci of Hurley, MS, Cindy and Dray Scurry of Erie, CO and Valerie and Fritz Bates of Jasper, GA. She leaves four granddaughters whom she adored, Kalee, Kinsey, Katie and Lindsey. She also leaves behind a brother, Donald Ayres of Dadeville, AL.
Her grandson, Brian Greer, sisters, Connie Allison and Patricia Lockhart, and brother Ronald Ayres preceded Janice in death.
Janice was a veteran having served in the Air Force during the Korean War reaching a rank of Sgt. She was employed as an operator for Southern Bell Tele. Co. for many years. She and Bob married just three weeks after being introduced and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on April 16, 2016. Janice volunteered for many organizations over the years, Pickens Animal Rescue of Jasper, American Red Cross, Bartow County Convention Center & Tourist Office, Rowland Springs Baptist Church, Cartersville High School and Habitat for Humanity. Janice was a former resident of Murphy, NC and Brooksville, FL moving to Cartersville, GA in 1997. She spent her time spoiling her grandchildren, volunteering and enjoying being outside.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to Rowland Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 79 Rowland Springs Rd., Cartersville, GA 30121.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 30th at Rowland Springs Baptist Church, 79 Rowland Springs Road, Cartersville, Georgia at 11 a.m. The family welcomes visitation from 10-11 a.m.
Manuel Ell Gene Young, 30, of Ranger, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, April 21, 2016. Manuel was born February 5, 1986 in Jasper, Ga.
He is survived by his son, Hayden Matthew Young and the mother of his son, Dana Miller; parents, Ed and Faye Young; brother, Marshall Young; sisters and brothers-in-law, Michelle and Victor Jimenez, Markelle and Josh Soles; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, all of Ranger, Ga.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Manuel Young were held Tuesday, April 26th at 2p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Reverend Bobby Timms officiating. He was laid to rest at the Mountain Cemetery in Pickens County, Ga. with Jeremy Lacey, Luis Palacios, Jose Barron, Arturo Barron, Victor Jiminez and Josh Soles serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Bobbie-Jo Murphy Whittington, 64, of Watkinsville, formerly of Tate, passed away Saturday April 23, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Whittington is survived by her husband, Mike Whittington of Panama City Beach, FL; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Jennifer Whittington of Louisville, KY.; daughter and life partner, Carrie Whittington & Alan Lunsford of Adairsville; brother and sister-in-law, Mike & Vivian Murphy of Ball Ground; sister and brother-in-law, Pat & Allen Ray of Canton; grandchildren, Chris Jr. and Ben Whittington; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by grandson Joshua.
Visitation will begin Wednesday April 27, 2016 from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday April 28 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Dr. Daniel Ray officiating. Interment at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Carol Sullens Kime, 67, of Calhoun, passed away Saturday April 23, 2016 at Gordon Hospital.
Mrs. Kime is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Christi Kime of Calhoun; sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara & David Holden of Talking Rock and Pam Chastain of Cartersville; grandchildren, Joshua Kime and Kiara Boyd; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Thursday April 28 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Byron Tillery officiating.

Mr. Stanley Wooten, 66, of Fairmount, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.
Mr. Wooten is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott & Jean Wooten of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Wooten & Kevin Whitfield of Dalton and Natalie Davis & Ed McClure of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Roger & Bonnie Wooten of Talking Rock; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Joan Dawley officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers served: Jeremy Dillard, Justin Dillard, Jacob Mulkey, Titus Townsend, Bo Townsend, and William Marlow.

Elizabeth "Lisa" Galletti, a resident of Jasper, died peacefully in her sleep Thursday the 21st of April, 2016 in her home.
Born in 1952 in New York City, she devoted her life to her children and then her grandchildren.
Lisa entered a room with a smile and a laugh so loud and infectious, she brought merriment to everyone around her. She loved reading mystery novels, crocheting scarves and hats for her friends and strangers, and doting on her grandchildren. Her faithful dog, Lady, was never far from her side.
She is survived by her three sons, one daughter and six beautiful grandsons, who live in Georgia and Florida and supported her in her later years.
A small memorial will be held at the Pickens Senior Center on Tuesday, May 10th from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. with another memorial in South Florida on May 14th where the majority of her extended family lives.
Roper Funeral Home, Jasper, was entrusted with the arrangements.
