Sandra Bettis
July 2, 1945 - July 29, 2016
    Mrs. Sandra Jean Bettis, 71, of Tate, passed away Friday July 29, 2016 at Grandview Healthcare.
    Mrs. Bettis is survived by her mother, Annie Jo Wood of Tate; sons, Richard Bettis of Seattle, Washington and Ryan Bettis of Stone Mountain; daughters, Melisa Lee of Seattle, Washington and Tammy Lee of Stone Mountain; sister, Linda Morris of Tate; and three grandchildren.
    A private memorial service was held Monday, August 1, 2016 with Pastor Greg Pope, pastor of Jasper First Baptist Church, officiating.

Kenneth Keener
    Kenneth Lee Keener, 59, of Ranger, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  Kenneth was born November 7, 1956 in Fairmount, Georgia, a son of the late Floyd and Mary Green Keener. He is also predeceased by a sister Jeanna Pinson. Kenneth retired in 2005 from the Georgia DOT and was currently working for Commodity Trucking.
    He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Ashley and Wes Crump of Cartersville, and Cortney Keener of Adairsville, GA; a son, Jason Keener of Adairsville, GA,; brothers,  Eugene Keener of Fairmount, Ga, Charles Keener of Kentucky; sisters and brothers in law; Frances Keener of Ranger, GA, Barbara Bunch of Jasper, GA, Annie Ruth and David Perry of Fairmount, GA, Jerri and Kenneth Leachman of Marietta, GA and Adelle Keener of Calhoun, GA. Kenneth had 3 grandchildren, Marley, Linkoln and Cole Crump as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and several nieces and nephews.
    Services to celebrate the life of Kenneth Lee Keener were held Friday August 5, 2016 at the Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Pastor Tom Ham officiating. He was laid to rest at the Pleasant Grove (RYO) cemetery in Fairmount with Kelly Perry, Jared Leachman, Mark Bunch, Chris Simpson, Greg Stiles and Andy Bannister serving as pallbearers. Honorary pall bearers were Charles Holt, Bruce Kelly, Terry Bunch, Richard Gobel, Gary Hancock and Clarence Hancock.

George L. McLaughlin
July 5, 1919 - August 5, 2016

    Mr. George L. McLaughlin, 97, of Jasper, passed away Friday August 5, 2016 at Pruitt Health Care.
    Mr. McLaughlin graduated from high school in Elkins, WV in 1939 and then went on to study engineering at D&E College. He was a mason at Fairmont, WV Lodge #9, at Scottish Rite in Detroit, and a Shriner with the Yaarab Temple in Atlanta, GA. Mr. McLaughlin worked in Fairmont, WV at Monongahela Power Company and Westinghouse Electric, as well as Chrysler Missile in Detroit, at Lockheed in Georgia, South Carolina, and California, and Georgia Marble Company-Division Engineer in Whitestone, GA. Mr. McLaughlin's military career included the WV National Guard at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Master Sgt. in Kodiak and Attu, Alaska, and Lt. of Military Intelligence at the Pentagon.

Mr. McLaughlin is survived by his son, Dennis McLaughlin of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Pam & Doug Dorsey of Jasper; grandchildren, Tuesday Hammontree, Chris McLaughlin, Stacy Riddle, and Jamie McLaughlin; great-grandchildren, T.J. Riddle, Sam Hammontree, and Aleena Ray McLaughlin; step-great-granddaughter, Kayleen McLaughlin.
    Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by his wife Rae McLaughlin and his son David A. McLaughlin.
    A graveside memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Stuart officiating.
    The family accepted flowers or donate to Jasper First Baptist Church.

Edward Napoli
November 18, 1947 – August 3, 2016

    Edward Francis Napoli, 68, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at his home.
    He is survived by his wife, Lynn Napoli of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jenny McGaw; daughter, Faith Bitar; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Wanda Sutton; stepson, Chris Collins; step-daughter, Kassie Dean; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Salvatore Napoli and his two daughters, Sue Ellen Drolet and Tina Besse.
    A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 6 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Al Minella officiating. 
    The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in honor of Mr. Napoli to Georgia Mountains Hospice at 70 Caring Way; Jasper, GA  30143; 1-800-692-7199 or 706-253-4100.

Timothy Buchanan
July 23, 1986 - July 23, 2016

    Timothy Allen Buchanan, 30, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016.
    Timothy is survived by wife, Courtney Buchanan of the Hill City Community; daughters, Kaelin Buchanan and Lily Buchanan of the Hill City Community; brother, Joshua Buchanan of Marble Hill; grandmother, "Mammaw" Barbara Cantrell and "Papa" Mark Satterfield; aunts, Regina Buchanan, Ramona Buchanan; uncle, William Cantrell; aunts and uncles, Michael and Joyce Buchanan, Robert and Stacey Cantrell, George and Allison Cantrell, Becky and Kenneth Weaver; and several other relatives.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Sandra and Drew Buchanan and his grandparents, Shirley and Henry Buchanan, and "Papa" Harold Cantrell.
    A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 - 6 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Four Mile Baptist Church.
