Patricia Scott

Patricia Anne Scott, 71, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away January 5, 2019 at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her husband, Larry B. Scott of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Destini and Matthew Shope of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rhonda Chastain of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law Jessica Danielle and Tony McWhorter of Gulf Breeze, Florida; son, David Young of Verbena, Alabama; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and April Scott of Seminole, Florida; grandchildren, Mallory, Ryan, Brooke, Chris, Jadyn, Tyler, Caleb, Nicholas, Brenson, Marleigh and Erica; great-grandchildren, Hadley and Linkin; brother and sister-in-law, David and Rene Duncan of Cartersville; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Linda Webb of Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and David Gattis of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Frankie Kingsland of Marietta; sister, Dianne Samples of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Doris and Roy Jesse Duncan Jr. 

Services were held Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home.

The family accepted flowers or donations can be made to the American Lung Association (55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601)  or the American Cancer Society   (P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.)

Joan Fowler

Joan Carver Fowler, 65, of Jasper,  passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at her home.  She was born May 14, 1953 to Preston and Martha Carver in Jasper.

Joan is survived by her son, Scott Fowler of Jasper and sister, JoAnn Carver Harper.  She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Preston and Martha Carver.

At Mrs. Fowler's request, she is being cremated in the care of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.  No service is planned at this time.

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.  

 

David Parker

David Lee Parker, born November 27th, 1957, returned to his Heavenly Home on January 1st, 2019. His devotion to his loving wife, family and friends was an incredible witness to the love he had for Jesus. David was a man after God's own heart and displayed it through his contagious praise and worship leadership beginning at age 15.  

David was truly a humble, caring spirit filled with musical talent, the voice of an angel and a wonderful sense of humor. David was blessed with a close-knit family who he laid a firm foundation and helped build their lives in Jesus Christ.

David is survived by his wife, Carol Parker of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Shaun and Dawn Parker of Jasper; daughter and daughter-in-law, Laurie and Amanda Parker of Carnesville; grandchildren, Bailey Parker of Jasper, Cameron Parker of Jasper, Christopher Parker of Carnesville, Sarah Parker of Carnesville, Kai Parker of Jasper, Kasen Parker of Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Marichu Parker of Savannah, Johnathan Parker of Miami, Ronnie and Jennifer Parker of Dover, Delaware, Kevin Parker of Jasper and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Rachael Parker and his grandparents, Stanley and Evelene Swartz.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Robert Self and Eddie Rhodes officiating. Mr. Parker will remain in the care of the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory as he is cremated.

Birma Silvers

Ms. Birma Dale Silvers,  57, of Talking Rock, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Northside Hospital Forsyth.  

Survivors include her mother, Betty Jean Silvers of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Ricky & Debbie Silvers of Jasper.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2019 at Ball Creek Baptist Church, with Reverend Harold Cantrell officiating.   Interment followed in Ball Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  

The family accepted flowers or those who desire may make donations to the Ball Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. 

Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory. 

 

Ralph Mathews

February 25, 1960 - January 2, 2019

 

Mr. Ralph Mathews, 58, of Dawsonville, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Mathews is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Jessie and Josh Sheriff of Marble Hill; and Megan and Tyler Chaney of Dahlonega; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cynthia & Junior Spriggs of Marble Hill, Jane & Philip O'Bryant of Jasper; and sister, Jennifer Allen of Marble Hill; also two grandchildren, Brax & Kane Sheriff. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jason Hamby and Rev. Hunter Satterfield officiated.

Pallbearers: Mathew O'Bryant, James Satterfield, Stevie Morris, John Chastain, Kerry Veazey and Stanley Payne.

Internment was at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.

Stacy Mathews

October 17, 1965 - January 2, 2019

 

Mrs. Stacy Denise Mathews, 53, of Dawsonville, passed away Wednesday January 2, 2019 at her residence.

Mrs. Mathews is survived by her father, Bobby Goodwin and stepfather, Tommy Blackwell; daughters and sons-in-law, Jessie and Josh Sheriff of Marble Hill and Megan and Tyler Chaney of Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne & Lori Goodwin of Dahlonega; also two grandchildren, Brax and Kane Sheriff. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Jason Hamby and Rev. Hunter Satterfield officiated.

Pallbearers: Pyler Goodwin, Reyton Goodwin, Stevie Watson, Jason Satterfield, Danny Norton and Dalton Norton.

Interment was at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.

Lorna Miller

August 3, 1918 - December 26, 2018

 

Mrs. Lorna Miller, 100, of Jasper passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at A G Rhodes Rehab of Cobb, Marietta, GA.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Francis Miller of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Harland Mathews of Kennesaw; sisters Katherine Nichols of Florida and Leona Kordon of New York.  Also surviving are two grandchildren, Cathy and Suzanne; four great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. 

The funeral service was held at the Jasper United Methodist Church on January 5th, 2019. Dr. Wallace Wheeles and Dr. Greg Meadows officiated.

Internment was at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, immediately following the funeral service.

Anne Conner

February 17, 1946 - December 30, 2018

 

Mrs. Anne Byers Conner, 72, of Marble Hill, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

Mrs. Conner is survived by her son, Mike Conner of Marble Hill and daughter, Lana Conner of Marble Hill. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Conner.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 3, in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jason Satterfield and Rev. Harold Cantrell officiated. 

Pallbearers: Jimmy Weaver, Jeff Turner, Robert Brown, Dick Lawson, Brian Russell and Michael Cantrell.

Internment was at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
