Robert McGraw Jr.

Robert G. McGraw, Jr.,  81, of Jasper, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at WellStar North Fulton Hospital. He was born June 6, 1938 to Robert G. McGraw, Sr. and Irene Parker McGraw in Vardaman, Mississippi.

Robert had a coaching career that spanned 40 years with stints at Hazlehurst High School, Moorhead High School, Holmes Junior College, Delta State University, East Tennessee State University, Louisiana Tech, Ole Miss, East Mississippi Junior College and Northwest Mississippi Junior College.

He played football and baseball at his alma mater, Delta State University, and was recently inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame. As an avid Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight during his college years, he also won the title of Mid-South Champion.

Coach McGraw is survived by his wife, Mary Neeley McGraw of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. McGraw, III and Shari McGraw of Marietta; son,  Ronald Lee McGraw of Jasper; sister, Faye Blackston of Anderson, South Carolina; grandchildren, Matthew McGraw, Madeline McGraw, Kaitlyn MacDonald, Heather Rhen; great-grandchild, Anthony McGraw; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Edgar McDaniel officiating.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Kloe Mae Chester

Kloe Mae Chester, 13, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her home. 

She is survived by her mother, Amanda Cox of Jasper; father, James Chester of Jasper; stepfather, Jeremy Vaughn of Jasper; brothers, Austin Chester of Jasper; Blake Vaughn of Jasper, sister, Courtney Chester of Jasper; grandparents Beulah and David Smith of Waleska; Barbara Fowler of Jasper; Steve Cox of Ball Ground; James and Janet Chester of Ball Ground; greatest great aunt and her best friend Lala Stephens of Ball Ground. Several other aunts, uncles and family members survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in the Roper Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. with Reverend Merrick McClure officiating. Interment followed at Lake Forest Memorial Park.

The family accepted flowers or contributions can be made to the Kloe Mae Chester Memorial  Fund. 

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory. 

 

Martha Quinton

Martha Annette Quinton, 88, of Talking Rock, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Grandview Health Center. She was born September 5, 1931 to Henry Martin and Mary Vashti Powell.

Mrs. Quinton is survived by her husband, James W. "Jim" Quinton of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cynthia Quinton of Dawsonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Jack Murphy of Cartersville, Debbie and Mark Callahan of Broadway, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.  Numerous other family members also survive. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Evelyn and Sybil.  

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Talking Rock Baptist Church with Reverend Buck Parker, Reverend Neil McKenzie, and Reverend Grant Wade    officiating. Interment will follow in the Talking Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Grandview Health Center for the excellent loving care they gave our wife and mother.

Jerry Woodall

Jerry Roger Woodall, 78, of Jasper, passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 at his home. He was born May 16, 1941 to Lewis and Elanore Woodall in Cherokee County.  

Jerry is survived by his wife, Patsy Woodall of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Woody and Gail Woodall of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Charlie Holbert of Talking Rock; grandchildren, Dustin and Chelsey Woodall of Gainesville, Dylan Woodall of Cherokee County, John Holbert of Talking Rock, Josh Holbert of Talking Rock, Ella Holbert of Talking Rock; great-grandsons, Beau Woodall and on the way, Crew Woodall; and brother-in-law, Charles Coleman.  He was preceded in death by his son, Jay Woodall.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.,  Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Grant Wade and Reverend Charles Holbert officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, Cancer Wing.
