Roger Green Sr.

Roger Allen Green Sr., 73, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Monday, July 20, 2020 at Pruitt Health in Jasper. He was born February 20, 1947 to Carl Green Sr. and Annie Bell Jackson in Tate, Georgia.  

Roger is survived by his sons, Alan and Heather Weaver of Nelson, Casey Howell of Jasper; brother, Allen "Mooney" Green of Atlanta; grandchildren, Demetrius, Skylar, Alyssa, Kiana, Kamarri; and great-grandchild, Braston. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Allen Green Jr., three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Elder Linda Durham officiating. Interment followed at Lake Forest Memorial Park.

Opal Flowers

Opal Flowers, 79, of Ball Ground, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at her home. She was born May 1, 1941 to Raleigh and  Nettie Hampton in Ball Ground, Georgia.

Mrs. Flowers is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shelly Flowers of Ball Ground; grandchildren, Mitchell and Deeann Flowers of Dawsonville, Miranda Flowers of Dawsonville, Tonya and Tony Merrell of Marble Hill, Dustin Flowers of Ball Ground, Misty and Joe Gierok of Gainesville, Stacey and Mason McCary of Gainesville; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth and Horace Biddy of Ball Ground, Bonnie and James Shipman of Ball Ground; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Davis of Dawsonville.  Several nephews, nieces and other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were  held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2020  at Lake Forest Memorial Park with Reverend Frank Lathery officiating.

Kyle Reece

 

Kyle David Reece, 27, of Jasper, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020 at his home. He was born October 19, 1992 to Mike and Jessica Reece in Marietta, Georgia.  

Kyle is survived by his mother, Jessica Reece of Ball Ground; father, Mike Reece of Jasper; grandfather, Morris Reece;  brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Cassandra Reece of Jasper; sister, Brooke Reece; nephews, Ryder Wofford, Tatum Reece; mentor and best friend, Tulio Navarro; and aunt, Tammy Goss. Several special friends and other family members also survive.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Shelby Reece, Barbara Bruce and Loyd Bruce.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Honorary pall bearers are Ethan Logan, Jason Tuneburg, Jordan Clark, Michael Thomas, Bo Champion, Blake Chapman, and Jim Potter.

Mildred Ballew

Mrs. Mildred L. Ballew, 74, of Jasper, GA passed away Thursday July 23, 2020.

Mrs. Ballew was born August 5, 1945 in Gilmer County to the late James and Cleo Moss Wright. She was a member of the Refuge Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Krista Hyde and her sister, Betty Sue Shoemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde Ballew, of Jasper, GA; daughter and son in-law, Lisa and Tim Hyde, of Whitestone; brothers, Johnny and Lonnie Wright, both of Ellijay; sisters, Patsy Shoemaker, Mary Louise Underwood and Kathy Shoemaker, all of Chatsworth, GA; 1 granddaughter, Emily (William) Coker, of Ellijay; great grandchildren, Nate, Kash and Lilly Coker, of Ellijay, GA.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 26th at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Music was by Kelsey Patterson. Interment was in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gerald Wade

U.S. veteran

 

Gerald Dwight Wade, 91, of Jasper, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at his home. Gerald was born on November 15, 1928 in Phenix City, Alabama. He proudly served in the United States Navy and the Navy Reserves. He was a member of the Jasper division of the American Legion.

After moving to Jasper 29 years ago, he began volunteering with CARES (Food Pantry), Good Samaritan Health Center, Pickens Community Service Club, Lions Club, Mountainside-Piedmont Hospital and Meals on Wheels. He believed his most important job was to be the best husband, father and grandfather he could be. Gerald loved to travel, fish and golf.

A member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church, Gerald held a strong love and faith in God, life, country and family.

He was preceded in death one year ago by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Wade. He is survived by his three children, Dennis, Lynda and Gary; his two daughters-in-law, Melanie and Dale; his six grandchildren, Dwight, Rachel, Paul, Travis, Chad and Jessica; and his nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Gerald's memory to CARES (Food Pantry) in Jasper and/or Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Jasper. 

A private interment will be held at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Alfonia Davenport

 

Alfonia Louise Davenport, 91, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at her home in Jonesboro. She was born April 27, 1929 in Camp Hill, Alabama.  

She is survived by her children, Darrel Davenport of Atlanta, LaTonya Talmadge of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Darrel Walker of College Park, Anekia Davenport of Fresno, California, Justin Temple of Ellenwood, Georgia; great-grandchild, Kenny Walker of College Park; sisters, Judy Howell of Jasper, Lisa Jennings of Detroit, Pamela Harrison of Detroit; brother, John Jennings of Cleveland, Ohio. Several other relatives also survive.

A graveside service was held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2020 at Lake Forest Memorial Park.
