Bill Bozeman

 

William “Bill” Marion Bozeman, 49, of Lynn Haven, Florida passed away August 21, 2020. He was  originally from Marble Hill, Georgia; he was a master mechanic and a loving father.  He raised his own and touched many that came into his life through his children.  He was always quick witted and loved to make you laugh. A friend to many and he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Mack C. Bozeman; brothers, Lamar Bozeman (Dreama) and Lanier Bozeman (Michelle). He is survived by his wife, Melissa Philips Murphy; children, Michael “Andy” Bozeman, Nikki S. Bozeman (Josh Gibson) and William “Bray” Bozeman; step-children, Hunter Posey (Shannon), Phisher Posey, Dale Murphy and Lindon Murphy; mother, Helen B. Bozeman; sister, Diane Collis (Joel); and brother, Wallace Bozeman (Angie). 

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 24th at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dean Shumway officiating.  Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers are Hunter Posey, Dale Murphy, Lindy Murphy, Josh Gibson, Jeremy Philips,  Scotty Buchanan and McCall Calhoun.

Robert Boling

 

Rev. Robert Lee Boling, 82, of Louisville, GA, formally of Jasper, died Monday, August 17, 2020.

Rev. Boling was born March 30, 1938, in Pickens County, the son of the late Thurston and Sallie Alma Morris Boling. He was a farmer and member of the Free Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sister, Ruby Ponder, Tate, and nephew, Danny Ryder, Tate; several cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 22 at 12 noon from the Free Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Pearson and Rev. Larry Holden officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.                 

Music was by James Morris. Pallbearers were: Stanley Morris, Troy Morris, Johnny Chumley, Lawrence Chumley, Ronnie Chumley, Randy Chumley.

Evelyn Thomason

 

Evelyn Thomason, 81, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.  

Mrs. Thomason is survived by children, Andy Lee Thomason of California, Andra and Shane Callahan of Jasper; sister, Clara Patterson of Tate; grandchildren, Natasha Currie of Talking Rock, Jessica and Justin Moss of Fairmount, Cynthia Childers and Michael Poulos of Woodstock, Dayton Callahan of Jasper, Deanna Callahan of Jasper; great-grandchildren, Skyler Currie, Evan Currie, Ava Moss, and Mason Moss.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2020 at County Line Baptist Church with Reverend Jess Posey officiating.   Interment will follow in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Sarah Gravley

 

Sarah Frances Gravley, 77, of Jasper,  passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at her home.  She was born May 5, 1943 to R. Colie and Susie Fox in Jasper.

Frances is survived by her husband, James Hugh Gravley of Jasper; children, Eddie and Linda Davis of Jasper, Debbie Rooker of Jasper, Danny and Julie Stell of Arcadia, Florida; stepson, Keith Gravley of Jasper; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Beck of Jasper, Rita Loggins of Jasper; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Fox of Jasper, and Patsy Fox of Jasper.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Free Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Bryant, Reverend Grand Wade, and Reverend Autry Dean officiating. Interment will follow in the Free Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Kenneth Padgett

 

Kenneth Clyde Padgett, 73, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Emory University Hospital Midtown.  He was born February 8, 1947 to Claude and Jessie Padgett in Jasper, Georgia.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Sara Padgett of Jasper; daughters, Rhonda (Darren) Lane of Jasper, Karen (Chris) Johnson of Marietta, Jenna (Net) Lands of Canton; sisters, Lois Brendel of Fairmount, Yvonne Bryant of Jasper, Shirley Dean of Watkinsville; and six grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Jessie Padgett; brother, Franklin Padgett; and sister, Gerald Jackson.

Due to restrictions related to COVID 19, a private funeral service will be held.

Elaine Logan

 

Elaine Dessie Logan, 78, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Wildwood Health Care.  She was born January 1, 1942 to Clifford and Katie Hensley in Pickens County.  

Mrs. Logan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lamar and Michelle Logan of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Randy Childers of Jasper; grandchildren, Ethan and Erica Logan, Cody and Ashlyn Childers; great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Childers; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Rittenberry, Betty and Billy Reece, Mary Nell Logan, Evelean and Deryl Hyde.  Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

A private funeral service was held.

Ronald Pope

December 3, 1963 - August 22, 2020

 

Mr. Ronald Pope, 56, of Talking Rock, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020 at his residence.

Ronald is survived by his mother, Mozell Pope of Talking Rock; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth & Louise Pope of Cartersville; brothers, Michael Pope of Jasper and Darrell Pope of Talking Rock; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda & Danny Fisher of Talking Rock and Vickie & Joe Harrison of Jasper; several nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Pope; grandparents, Hughie and Corlee Pope and Jesse and Maggie Thacker.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Salacoa Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Dennis Pope officiating.

Pallbearers: Danny Hite, Mark Pope, Joe Harrison. Danny Fisher and Kenneth Pope.

Connie Wehunt

November 3, 1955 - August 19, 2020 

Mrs. Connie Wehunt, 64, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at her residence.

Connie is survived by her husband, Tommy Wehunt of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Ethel Henderson of Ellijay; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Ann Wehunt of Dahlonega; three aunts; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home, with Rev. Glen Arnold and Rev. Jimmy Wehunt officiating.

Interment was at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, following the funeral service.

Pallbearers: Terry Henderson, Keith Gilbert, Kyle Gilbert, Jeff Wehunt, Bryan Bazzell and Kendel Wehunt.

Joyce Fowler

 

Joyce Ann Fowler, 64, of Jasper, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020 at her daughter's home. She was born January 6, 1956 to James and Minnie Raynes in Jasper.  

She is survived by her children, Rhonda Benefield and Ricky Mullinax of Jasper, Lucas Benefield of Jasper, Jessica Estes of Jasper, James Estes of Ball Ground; grandchildren, Stevi Hall of Jasper, Bailey Benefield of Jasper, Riley Wilson of Jasper, Camron Childers of Jasper; brother, Timothy Raynes of Jasper. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lake Forest Memorial Park.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday, August 28, 2020 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

June Jenkins

 

June Chandler Jenkins, 67, of Ball Ground, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Pruitt Health. She was born November 6, 1952 to James and Peggy Chandler in Collie, Australia.

June is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, April and Nathan Lee Reynolds of Ball Ground; step-son, Travis Ray and Lauren Jenkins of Sevierville, Tennessee; sister, Gaye Frye of Chester, South Carolina; brother, Robert Graham Chandler of Cornelius, North Carolina; grandson, Ethan Reynolds of Ball Ground; step-grandchildren, Makenna Jenkins of Millington, Tennessee, Wesley Jenkins of Millington, Tennessee, Tucker Jenkins of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Gavin Curan of Sevierville, Tennessee .

No service will be held at this time.

Masonic Resolution on the death of Brother Eugene Worth Turner

To the Worshipful Master, Warden, and Brethren of Pickens Star Lodge #220 F&A.M. Jasper, Georgia.

Whereas, on August 13, 2020 it was the will of the Grand Architect of Heaven and Earth to call from Labor to Refreshment our beloved Eugene Worth Turner.

And whereas we, his brethren, feel keenly his absence from our midst and while we humbly bow to the Will of our Infinite Creator, we desire to make a suitable Memorial, therefore:

Be it resolved that Pickens Star Lodge No. 220 F&A.M. express to the family of our departed Brother, Deepest sympathy and wish to express our gratitude for his life of service among us.

Be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the bereaved family of our departed brother, a copy to be spread on our minutes and a copy to be published in the Pickens County Progress.
