Shirley Cyr

 

Shirley Mae Cyr of Jasper, GA journeyed to heaven on Friday, September 18, 2020 after a long and beautiful life.  Shirley was born in Baltimore, MD to Louis Cass Mueller and Thelma Edna (Oed) Mueller on May 23, 1929.  

She married the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Richard Alfred Cyr on September 9, 1950 and was the beloved mother to 8 children.  She resided at the Lodge of Bridgemill in Canton, GA

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2013, her parents, Louis and Thelma and her brothers Ronald and Louis Mueller.  She is survived by her sister Thelma (Sis) Livermon, her children; Richard, Jr. (Dianne) Cyr of VA, Victoria Cyr of NY, Valerie (William) Landell of NJ, Christian Cyr of NY, Ronald (Stephanie) Cyr of GA, Lisa (Scott) Lang of IL, Melissa (Howard) Vallimont of GA and Janice (David) Cyr-Morgan of NY,  19 grandchildren; Trey, Christian, Christine, Amy, Billy, Ashley, Cassandre, Laura, Danny, Michael, Whitney, Alicia, Megan Lynn, Jessica, Megan Elizabeth, Ryan, Kyle, Kerry and Shane, 16 great-grandchildren; Karen, Tyler, Knox, Blaydin, Callie, Lana, Gage, Mason, Joshua, Liam, Paxton, Emerson, Hunter, Grayson, Gavin and Lawson.

Shirley will be greatly missed for a smile that lit up a room, her wonderful sense of humor, creativity and dance moves.  May she rest in heaven in eternal peace.

Private services will be scheduled at a later date.

 


 

Roger Beck

September 26, 2020

 

Mr. Roger Beck, 81, of Marble Hill, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Chatsworth Health Care Center.

Mr. Beck is survived by his wife, Carolyn Beck of Marble Hill; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve Beck of Marble Hill, Ricky & Dawn Beck of Talking Rock; daughters and son-in-law, Gloria Foster of Jasper, Brenda & David Pendley of Jasper; brothers and sister-in-law, Larry Beck of Marble Hill, Jimmy & Linda Beck of TN; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda & Melvin Cheek of Calhoun; sister-in-law, Sheila Beck of Jasper; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roger was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Molly & Megan Foster.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Kowen and Rev. Jerry Cantrell officiating.

Interment was at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral service.

Pallbearers: David Pendley, Jared Pendley, Matthew Beck, Mikle Foster Sr., Scott Beck and Kenneth Beck.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Buddy Jones

 

Mr. Ernest "Buddy" Jones, 84, of Dawsonville, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Mr. Jones is survived by his son, Anthony Jones of Dawsonville; daughters and son-in-law, Debra & Tony Tolleson of Dawsonville, Connie Jones of Cleveland, and Angie Jones of Dawsonville; step-son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Deborah Maddox of Dawsonville; brother and sister-in-law, Larry & Linda Jones of Atlanta; sister, Shirley Pack of Atlanta; 30 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Jones.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, October 2, 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 3, 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Arbor Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Casey Davis officiating.

Interment will be at the church cemetery following the funeral service.

Pallbearers: Michael Nguyen, Ken Mullinax, Chandler Claire, Timmy Jones, Antonio Garnto and Hunter Akinson.

Jeffery Griggs

 

Jeffery Shane Griggs, 46, of Ellijay, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Ellijay.

Shane is survived by his wife, Brandy Griggs of Ellijay; daughter, Hannah Dobson of Ellijay; mother and father, Pam & Freddie Eller of Jasper; grandchildren, McKinleigh Bozeman, Brantley Paschal and Josey Paschal.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lora Padgett; and daughter, Taylor Childers.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2020 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Joey Phillips and Rev. Anthony Stonecipher officiating.

Interment was at the church cemetery following the funeral service.

Pallbearers: Scott Jones, Drew Patterson, Thomas Stewart, Will Hollifield, Dwight Griggs, Chris Tankersley and Clark Galloway.

The family accepted flowers or donations can be made to help with funeral expenses.

Jeff Ray

Mr. Jeffery Scott Ray, 55, of Ball Ground, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw. 

Mr. Ray is survived by his father, Ken Ray of Gainesville; brother, Anthony Ray of Gainesville. Also several aunts, uncles and cousins, and remembered by many friends. 

Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Ray and niece, Jessica Ray. 

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the Gospel Temple Church Cemetery. Rev. Butch Roberts officiating.

Cunningham

 

Elizabeth Jo Cunningham, 57, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020 at her home. She was born June 2, 1963 to Robert and Annie Cannady in Statesboro, Georgia.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Shawna Cunningham of Tampa, Florida; mother and father, Merl and Calvin Byrd of Jasper; step-mother, Peggy Cannady of Mayo, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Larry Pierce of Rome; brother, Ted Cannady of Big Spring, Texas; sister, Robin Cannady of Clearwater, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Ellen Cannady of Jasper.  

She was preceded in death by husband, Michael  Cunningham and father, Robert William Cannady.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. at Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper.

Douglas Elrod Jr.

 

Douglas Eugene Elrod, Jr., 24, of Ball Ground, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020. He was born July 2, 1996 to Doug and Michelle Elrod in Canton, Georgia.

Douglas is survived by his parents, Doug and Michelle Elrod of Ball Ground; fiancee, Kelsie Saint of Jasper; brother and his fiancee, Orlandis Elrod and Samantha Gerard of Ball Ground; sister, Celyste Elrod of Ball Ground; special brothers, Damien Dodd of Jasper, Dominic Dodd of Jasper; grandparents, Nana Nancy Neighbors of Adairsville, Mattie Elrod of Canton; aunt and uncle, Annie Neighbors and Terrill Adams of Ball Ground; soon-to-be mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna and Michael Saint of Ranger; soon-to-be sister-in-law, Josie Saint of Ranger ; special uncles, Larry Elrod and Oink Elrod.  Several other family members and friends also survive.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Macedonia Memorial Park with Bayshawn Gearing officiating.

Bob McFarland

 

Bob McFarland, 84, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at his home. He was born July 7, 1936 to Tom and Fronia McFarland in Canton, Georgia.

Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Greg Dunnegan of Canton; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Kathy McFarland of Ranger, David and Angela McFarland of Jasper; grandchildren, Drake and Cassie Dunnegan, Hannah and Dave Deyton, Jesse McFarland, Haley and Wes Watkins, Natalie and Preston Williams; great-grandchildren, Adalie Deyton, Everly Deyton, and Vivian June Watkins.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.  

He was preceded in death by two sisters and nine brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Long Swamp Baptist Church with  Reverend Edwin Bishop, Reverend Nathan Smith, and Reverend Tim Pearson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Andy Baird

 

Andrew "Andy" Nolan Baird, 53, of Jasper, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at his home.  He was born August 30, 1967 to Ben and Reta Baird in Memphis, Tennessee.

Andy is survived by his daughter, Isabella Howell-Baird of Jasper; father, Ben Baird of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Sharon Baird of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Katrena and Michael Friedman of Houston, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Melina Baird of Centerville, Tennessee.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Reta Baird.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Friday, October 2, 2020 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.  

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Lake Forest Memorial Park.
