Barbara Poole

 

Barbara Mitchell Poole, 70, of Jasper passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at Northside Hospital Cherokee.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Phillip McPherson and Rev. Dwayne McPherson officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Mrs. Poole was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and embroidery.

She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Mitchell.  Barbara is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry Poole; sons, Neal Poole and Jeff Poole; mother, Winnie Mitchell; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Michael Beasley

 

Mr. Michael M. Beasley, 75, of Ball Ground, GA passed away October 21, 2020. Michael was born on April 20, 1945 in Pekin, IL. He grew up in Memphis, TN. 

After graduating from high school in Long Beach, CA, Michael joined the United States Navy. He honorably served during the Vietnam War. While stationed in San Diego, Michael met Judy. They would marry and have two children together. Michael enjoyed a career as a Boiler Inspector. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting for treasures with his metal detector, antiquing, being a short order cook for the family, a rearranger of the dishwasher, and woodworking. His family will have many beautiful keepsakes he made to pass down through the generations. Michael was a devoted Christian and would spend countless hours studying the bible.

He will be remembered for the unconditional love he gave his family and for the amazing father he was. Michael would always put the needs of his family before his own. He will be immensely missed by those lucky enough to have known him. 

Michael was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Beasley; mother, Anna Benedict; father, Max Beasley; and sisters, Wanda McClain and Arta Higgins. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 19 years, Gloria Beasley; children, Denise Houston (Richard) of Columbiana, AL, and Michael J. Beasley (Vera) of Chelsea, AL; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nic and Kellen; step-children, Chas Brooks (Lauren) of Hilton Head, SC;  Chris Brooks (fiancé, Christy) of Ball Ground, GA, and Conrad Brooks of Dawsonville, GA; step-grandchildren, Britton, Braiden, Benjamin, Hunter, Noah, Shelby, Jenna, and Brayden (aka “Possum”); great-grandchild, Bryson; and siblings, Janet Burchfield (Bill) of Toronto, OH; Gene Beasley (Darlene) of Chuckey, TN; and Carol Beasley of Toronto, OH.

The funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church of Columbiana, 208 N Main St, Columbiana, AL 35051. Michael was laid to rest following the service at Southern Heritage Memorial Park.

 

Frances Bramlett

 

Frances Louise Bramlett, 84, of Ellijay, passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at Pruitt Health Care in Jasper.  She was born March 2, 1936 to the late Clifford and Ina (Duckett) Sprayberry in Pickens County.

Frances is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carl E. "Gene" Bramlett, Sr. of Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Michael Wellin of Greenville, South Carolina; son and daughter-in-law,  Carl E. and Carrie Bramlett, Jr. of Ellijay; granddaughter, Kayla Marion of Dallas, Texas; and sister, Geneva Parker of Tallapoosa, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Crooke.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 31, 2020 in the chapel of Roper Funeral Home  with Jim Crews officiating.   

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org in memory of Frances Bramlett.

Shirley Kent

 

Shirley Kent, 84, of Jasper, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Pruitt Healthcare in Jasper. Shirley was born February 16, 1936 in Nelson to the late Marion and Lulabell Ingram.

She is survived by her children, Lynn and Jerry Townley of Dawsonville, Richard Kent of Jasper, Donna and Greg Moss of Jasper, Raymond and Brandi Kent of Jasper; grandchildren, Trent Townley of Dawsonville, Mardie Townley of Dawsonville, Shelton Townley of Dawsonville, Jason Kent of Jasper, Russell Kent of Jasper, Lori Johnson of Blue Ridge, Amanda Bridges of Jasper, Haley Cline of Kennesaw; and 14 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Stephanie Kent, five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm, Monday, October 26th in the chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Parks and Rev. Steve Chadwick officiating. Interment followed at Lake Forest Memorial Park.

The family accepted flowers or memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice in her honor.

Jacalyn Roper

 

Jacalyn Lucile Roper, age 67, of Canton, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020.  She was born June 30, 1953 to Benson Jake and Betty Rose Lawson in Canton, Georgia.

Jacalyn is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Scott Pope of Panama City Beach, Stephanie Ray of Ball Ground, Amanda and Steve Prather of Canton; grandchildren, Hannah Keeter, Christopher Pope, Jordan Prather, Jacob Prather; siblings and in-laws, Roseanna and David Herden of Canton, Venita and Larry Steed of Carrolton, Butch Lawson of Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Bethesda Baptist Church.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Catherine Blaine

September 16, 1956 - October 25, 2020

 

Catherine Ann Blaine, born September 16, 1956, passed away Sunday October 25, 2020 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital after a brief illness.

Catherine was preceded in death by her father, Harry Blaine and mother, Minnie Parker Blaine of Jasper, GA; brothers, Charles and Bobby Blaine.

She is survived by one sister, Margaret Jeanette Blaine of Douglasville, GA; sister-in-law, Amyee Blaine; nephew, Kevin Blaine; niece, Pamela Daves; great-nieces, Baylee and Madison Daves of Arkansas; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenny Green officiating.

Interment was at Lower Bell Creek Cemetery in Hiwassee at 3 p.m., after the funeral service, with prayer by Carol Parker.

Pallbearers: Matt Munsch, Herbert Wofford, Shannon Bryan, Richard Wofford, Terry Sutton and Timothy Parker.

Randy Wilder

October 7, 1972 - October 21, 2020

 

Mr. Randy C. Wilder, 48, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA.

Mr. Wilder is survived by his fiancée, Lynn Tidwell of Jasper; sons, Devin Wilder of Dawsonville, Thomas Wilder & Heather Clark of Helen, GA; stepsons, Andrew Damingues of Cleveland and Joey Brandon of Texas; stepdaughters, Christy Kirby of Jasper, Jenn Tidwell of Fort Campbell, KY and Ashely Hodge of Christian, IL; seven grandchildren and one on the way; aunt Mert Arnold; very special friend, Dustin Payne of Talking Rock; special buddy, Skyler Cook of Fort Campbell, KY; friends of the family, Jennifer Adams, Kimberly Wilder, George & Miranda Klein.

Mr. Wilder was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Wilder.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2020 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home, with Rev. Ben Mock officiating.

Interment was at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, following the funeral service.

Pallbearers: Cheyenne Steptoe, Dustin Payne, Shaun McBee, George Klein, Michael Tucker and Jason Elliott.

Mitchell Nichols

February 22, 1945 - October 19, 2020

 

Mr. Mitchell Hulun Nichols, 75, of Jasper, formerly of Monticello, passed away Monday October 19, 2020 at Assured Hospice Care in Cartersville.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his son, Teddy Nichols & Michelle Wilson of Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Carter & Jimmy Buchanan of Jasper; daughter, Britney & Becca Nichols of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Eddie Lee Nichols of Waleska and Richard Nichols of Jasper; sister, Cathy Rampley of Waleska; grandchildren, Kristen & Brett Mullins, Miranda Carter & Matt Wright, Austin Carter; great-grandchildren, Hagen Mullins, Hallie Mullins and Zayne Carter; several stepchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Gail Nichols.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home, with Chaplain Tim Baird and Rev. Danny Townsend, officiating.

Grady Hester

July 11, 1927 – October 21, 2020

 

Grady Lee Hester, 93, of Dallas, Georgia passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain.  He was born July 11, 1927 to Lee and Emma Hester in Ball Ground, Georgia. Grady was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and has been a Deacon there since 1950.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Grady is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Nancy Hester of Dalton, Gary and Sue Hester of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Edward Palmer of Dunlap, Tennessee; grandchildren, Dana and Rod Miller of Dalton, Wendy Hester of Alabama, Chris and Shanda Hester of Dalton, Brian and Jamie Hester of Powder Springs, Justin and Jenifer Hester of Dallas, Trey and Blayre Palmer of Dunlap, Tennessee, Dr. Travis Palmer of Hickory, North Carolina; sister, Ruby Milford of Canton; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Jackie Hester of Cumming; and seventeen great-grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Thomas Wheeler and Reverend Grant Wade officiating and Matt Foster praying at the grave site.

Venita Cain

April 6, 1940 – October 25, 2020

 

Venita Ann Cain, 72, of Jasper,  passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Cartersville. She was born April 6, 1940 to Wallace and Jessie Lee Godfrey in Pickens County.

Ann is survived by her husband of 35 years, Fredrick "Rick" Cain of Jasper; children, Rex Cain of Mableton, Tad Cain of Ellijay, Kacie Cain of Cottondale, Florida; nephew, Brannon Chase Godfrey of Marietta; sister-in-law, Denise Godfrey of Mableton; uncles, Hobby Kirk of Talking Rock, Kenneth Kirk of Talking Rock, Joe Kirk of Talking Rock, Donnie Kirk of Talking Rock, Norman Kirk of Jasper; aunts, Shirley Grant of Jasper, Marie Stephens of Holly Springs.  Several cousins and other family members also survive.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Wallace and Jessie Lee Godfrey; brother, Timothy Godfrey; and nephew, Daniel Godfrey.  

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
