Annual Fishing Rodeo this weekend - Kids day Saturday, May 14

What do you get when you add over 5,000 trout, 1,200 hot dogs and hundreds of happy fishers?
For nearly three decades, the Pickens County Sportsman’s Club has organized the Annual Fishing Rodeo that invites kids, and senior and developmentally disabled centers for a day of free fishing and lunch.
“It’s a great event that we love putting on every year,” said Walter Cagle, club spokesman.

Jasper Mayor John Weaver is highly supportive of the event and he along with Jasper City Council thanked Cagle and the rest of the club at a recent meeting.
Trout will be stocked by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Free hot dogs, soft drinks and chips will be provided for lunch.
    The schedule is as follows:
Thursday, May 12 – Developmentally disabled facilities and Angels on Horseback
Friday, May 13 – Senior Center facilities (This day is only for senior center facilities only. This is not a public fishing day).
Saturday, May 14 – Kids Day! 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early birds get free t-shirts. Kids day is for ages 15 and under.
