Paint a picket, help Southern Appalachian Folk School

For just a $10 donation per picket, you can help the Southern Appalachian Folk Art School beautify their building and raise money to expand.

The Southern Appalachian Folk School wants your help to raise money for the new non-profit that brings the spirit of the southern Appalachian Mountains through arts, crafts, and stories of the region.

The school invites the public to add a little flare to their Chambers Street location in Jasper (formerly the Pickens DFCS office) by painting pickets that will be used to make a 200-foot folk art fence.

Participants can paint anything they want on one side of the picket (keeping in mind this is a family project and to exercise good taste), and any solid color of their choice on the other side.

Pickets can be picked up on Saturday, June 9 during the Artist Gathering at the school, anytime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., or at the Pop-Up Market at Green Acres 515 the same day during the same timeframe. The school is asking for a $10 donation for each picket.

Painted pickets should be returned to the folk school Friday, July 6 or Saturday, July 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The unveiling of the folk art fence will be July 27, 2018.

Southern Appalachian Folk School is located at 255 Chambers Street, Jasper. Ga. 30143. For more information contact Debbie Brownlee at 404-219-8278
