Board of Directors

Pickens County Chamber of Commerce

As chairman of the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Amberle Godfrey has been appointed as our interim executive director.

Godfrey has served as a member of the Chamber board of directors, including as a member of its executive committee and as chairman. For the last year she has served as interim operations director. During Godfrey’s tenure, the Chamber has seen tremendous financial stabilization and many improvements in other areas.

Prior to returning home to Pickens County, Godfrey worked in Atlanta as an accountant for several years, and then came home and focused her time working for the Pickens County School System for over eight years. She has served on numerous boards in the county including Prevent Child Abuse Pickens and Boys & Girls Club of North Georgia, and now serves as chair of the Pickens Scholars Committee for Reinhardt, a committee that raises scholarship funds for Pickens County students. She is a member of the Optimist Club and is a non-traditional student at Reinhardt University. Godfrey also volunteers for Atlantic Coast Conservancy, a land conservation nonprofit, where through land conservation in the southeast region has helped to donate more than $250,000 to other Pickens County nonprofits. She recently narrowly missed being elected as one of our county commissioners, a testament to her popularity and support in our community.

The Chamber board looks forward to working with Godfrey as we evaluate and plan to better serve our members and our community. The Chamber will soon begin a collaborative effort to evaluate our current and future needs, and then initiate a search, evaluation and selection strategy for our permanent leader.

Please, let’s all welcome Amberle Godfrey to this important leadership role in our community.
