Class of 2019 to graduate Saturday

It's graduation time! Check out this week's edition for graduation program and shuttle information, interviews with the PHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian, and a special Senior Salute page. Congratulations to PHS's class of 2019.


More than 280 members of the PHS Class of 2019 will graduate Saturday morning, June 1st at Dragon Stadium.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. as graduates take their seats on the field to Pomp and Circumstance. Senior Class Secretary Emily Robinson will deliver the invocation followed by the PHS Chorus Ensemble singing the national anthem and the senior class singing the alma mater.

Senior Class Vice President Nathaniel Neighbors will introduce the graduation speaker, Coach Kyle Rasco. Rosemary Willis will deliver the salutatory address followed by class Valedictorian Emily Robinson delivering her speech to the class. Olivia Fountain, senior class president, will join Superintendent Dr. Carlton Wilson and Principal Chris Wallace in awarding diplomas. Miles Gregg, senior class treasurer, will present the class song followed by Fountain’s president’s speech.

Following the speech, the class will leave the stadium as graduates to their song, Sweet Victory by David Glen Eisley.

For those attending graduation, free, air-conditioned and curbside shuttle service will be offered. Pick-up and drop-off locations will be at Pickens Junior High School and Chattahoochee Tech. At PJH, pick-up will be on the gym side of the campus while pick-up at Chattahoochee Tech will be in the parking area beside Pioneer Rd.

Buses at both locations will begin loading at 7:40 a.m. and depart promptly at 8:10. Guests will be dropped off at the stadium entrance. At the conclusion of graduation, passengers will be returned to their cars.

Guests wishing to view the graduation ceremony in air conditioning may do so in the Performing Arts Center at PHS.
