Owen Moss, pictured, helped the Dragons beat Cedartown 54-41 in a region matchup. Tucker Lowe put up 19 points in the game and Luke Rogers had his best game of the season, scoring 15 points on the night.
The Dragons basketball team had a full schedule last week as they took on two region opponents before hosting a non-region game on Saturday.
In the first game of the week, the Dragons traveled to Southeast Whitfield to take on the Raiders. The Dragons fell behind early, as they were outscored 15-13 in the first quarter. The second quarter saw both teams match shot for shot, with both teams putting up 16 points. The Dragons went to the half trailing by a basket.
In the third quarter, the Dragons came alive. Pickens put up 20 points and took over the lead by three points. The scoring continued for the Dragons as they cruised to a 65-54 region win.
Tucker Lowe was the high scorer for the game with 18 points. Luke Rogers and Owen Moss added double digits baskets for Pickens.
In the following contest, the Dragons traveled across the state to take on the Cedartown Bulldogs. In the first frame, both teams struggled to find the net, but Pickens jumped out to a nine to seven lead. In the second quarter the Bulldogs battled back and took a 18-16 lead into the half.
The Dragons once again came charging out of the locker room in the third quarter, outscoring Cedartown 20-6. From that point on, the Dragons never looked back. The final saw Pickens land a 54-41 region victory. Tucker Lowe put up 19 points in the game. Luke Rogers came alive with his best game of the season, scoring 15 points on the night.
The Dragons ended up their week hosting an athletic team from Dawson County. The Tigers jumped out to a 20-8 lead early in first quarter and never looked back. Pickens trailed 39-12 at the half. Pickens did fight back to close the gap in the second half of the game. The final from Saturday saw Pickens take a 65-45 loss.
Tucker Lowe was the high scorer for Pickens with 14 points.
Next up for the Dragons will be a region contest at Home vs. Central. Pickens is currently sitting in second place in the region as they start their second time around with region opponents.
