Bunch officially came on board on June 14th and has been working with the existing finance director during the transition. On July 1st, she will officially become the finance director.

Bunch brings over 30 years of accounting experience to Pickens County. She joins our organization from the State University System of Florida, for which Bunch served as the fiscal and business analyst at the University of South Florida. In that position, Bunch was responsible for managing USF’s capital improvements budget, which exceeds $200,000,000. Prior thereto, Bunch held other accounting positions as a divisional accounting

In her role as finance director, Bunch will oversee the ongoing maintenance of accurate and complete financial records for the county in accordance with all statutory mandates and generally accepted accounting principles. One of the primary goals of the county under Bunch’s leadership is to attain several national awards and certifications that are given to local governments by the Government Finance Officers Association for achieving excellence in financial reporting related to the transparency, completeness and user-friendliness of audit and budget reports.

Commission Chair Kris Stancil said, “The Board of Commissioners was very excited to make an offer to Bunch after meeting with her multiple times and seeing how focused she is on transparency and service.” Stancil continued, “I believe that she will be an incredible addition to our team and will help ensure that we are incredible stewards of the public’s monies. We know that she will provide excellent customer service and meaningful and timely financial information to the public, county departments, and the Board of Commissioners.”

Bunch and her husband have been married for 15 years and live in Ellijay. They have two children and two grandchildren.
