This year Amicalola EMC representatives surprised 67 teachers with big checks to help fund their bright ideas. The cooperative made their way to 30 different schools in the service area throughout Cherokee, Dawson, Gilmer, Lumpkin and Pickens counties. The Bright Ideas program rewards teachers who go the extra mile to research and implement innovative classroom projects that might not otherwise receive funding.
Amicalola EMC awarded a total of $47,381 this year, bringing the total to $674,474.33 since Bright Ideas began in 2010. All funding for the program comes from unclaimed property in compliance with Georgia’s unclaimed property laws.
Amicalola EMC extends congratulations to the following winners for Pickens County:
Courtney Segers, Elizabeth George, Stacia Walker, Suzanne Hardison, Sonia Chapman, Paula Henderson, Charlene Stirewalt, Eileen Steinhauer, Charlon Robertson, Kimsey Head, Kimberly Pack, Natalie Coker, Valerie Boehm, Emily Fellenbaum and Hilary Tatum.
