ArtWalk Jasper is back for another exciting season of visual art and music on Main Street, with the first event on May 17 from 6-9 p.m.

Stroll downtown and enjoy the sights and sounds, which includes 25 juried artists, the joyful rhythm of live Brazilian music from Buteco House Samba on the Pickens Courthouse lawn, artist vendors, and other exciting spring happenings.

“Spring is a vibrant, colorful time of year, and with this May ArtWalk we want to express that with things we elements we bring to the event,” said ArtWalk Director and Pickens Arts & Cultural Alliance Vice President Angela Reinhardt. “There are some new addition lined up this month, and I encourage everyone to join us for an evening that is shaping up to be magical.”

May will feature installation art, dancing the maypole, a community paint-by-number banner, live totem carving, and a Rising Stars student section in Bad Donkey Makers Market & Studio that will feature winners of PACA’s Youth Art Month show, and other surprises.

“I’m so excited to showcase these young artists in their own section,” Reinhardt said. “We have some incredibly talented students who deserve the spotlight.”

Enjoy food from Brazilian food truck Get Skewers, Mayor’s Hotdogs & Lemonade, and gourmet shaved ice from Raspados Celeste.

Eight-piece jazz band Mountain Breeze will perform on South Main near Keep Pickens Beautiful, and Concept of Creatures acoustic duo at the Old Jail.

Colorful maps of the event will be available during the event, on the ArtWalk Jasper Facebook page and Pickens Arts & Cultural Alliance’s website.

Follow ArtWalk Jasper on Facebook for updates as the event draws near.

ArtWalk Jasper is sponsored and organized by Pickens Arts & Cultural Alliance, with support from Jasper’s Downtown Development Authority.
