ArtWalk Jasper returns May 30 with art, music, and more

Submitted by Pickens Arts & Cultural Alliance

ArtWalk Jasper returns on Saturday, May 30, from 2-8 p.m. along Main Street, and the Pickens Arts & Cultural Alliance invites the public to this free event that celebrates the incredible arts and culture of our community.

The popular event, now shifting to a Saturday schedule in its fifth year, will feature a vibrant mix of juried and vendor artists showcasing a wide variety of works, from fine art to unique artisan goods. Visitors can stroll downtown while enjoying live music performances staged up and down Main Street throughout the afternoon and evening. Look for the juried artists inside participating downtown businesses.

This year’s event will include a spring-themed floral art installation, live demonstrations, and fun additions like a flash photo booth and body marbling. A dedicated kids’ area will offer family-friendly fun, including a face painting booth, cotton candy, and more.

Odessa Blaine will present live storytelling inside Pendley Creek Brewing at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., and the Master Gardeners will have student musicians perform at 68 D.B. Carroll Street.

Food trucks will be on site, while High Ridge Pours will offer specialty drinks to complement the lively street festival environment.

Headlining this year’s ArtWalk is Perrengue, an upbeat Brazilian fusion band from Athens, Georgia, who will take the stage from 5-8 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. Other acts include Tyler Lee Frush with special guest Scott Puckett, Mountain City Mavericks, Parker Smith, and Gracie Tallant.

ArtWalk Jasper Director Angela Reinhardt said the move to a Saturday event is intended to broaden the festival’s reach and create a more memorable experience.

“I’m thrilled to hold our first Saturday ArtWalk,” Reinhardt said. “I hope to see more people from out of town be able to attend and, along with everything we have planned, elevate the event to something people will remember for a long time.”

The event is free and open to the public. It is organized by Pickens Arts & Cultural Alliance. PACA would like to thank the city of Jasper and the Pickens Chamber of Commerce for their ongoing support, and also to IThink Financial and Grace & Glory Studio.
