Changes at The Pregnancy Center

A new name, free ultrasounds, and men’s coaching

Inside a modest building at 7 Caring Way, life-changing moments are unfolding every day. The Pregnancy Center has expanded its services to include free ultrasounds and comprehensive support for parents from pregnancy through early childhood.

Passersby traveling Highway 53 south of Jasper may have noticed the new signage reflecting the organization’s updated name. The change from “The Pregnancy Center” to “New Life Care Center” marks more than a rebrand; it signals a broader mission for the ministry that has served north Georgia since 1993.

Pat Page, who has served as CEO since 2008, said the new name better represents the full scope of services now offered under one umbrella. In addition to pregnancy testing and counseling, the center now provides on-site ultrasound services, pregnancy loss support, men’s coaching, and more than 600 classes designed to equip parents with practical skills and spiritual encouragement.

The addition of ultrasound technology is one of the most significant developments. Staffed by three trained ultrasound technicians, the service allows expectant mothers to confirm how far along they are, receive projected due dates, and see images of their unborn child, all at no cost. All services, including ultrasound results, are kept confidential.

Page said being able to see a viable pregnancy often provides clarity and reassurance for women facing unexpected news. She noted that they see a wide range of clients from younger teens to people in their 30s and 40s, and from a wide range of economic backgrounds. “This has nothing to do with income,” Page said. Many people travel from outside the county to visit the Center.

Page emphasized that staff members approach each situation with compassion. “We don’t blame and we don’t condemn,” she said, explaining that clients are guided through their options and given information needed for a healthy pregnancy and childbirth.

The center’s support does not end with mothers. Male coaches are available to mentor fathers and help them prepare for the responsibilities of parenting. In recent months, the ministry has expanded its outreach even further by working with the sheriff’s office and the local justice system to offer parenting and life-skills classes to individuals wanting to improve their lives and families.

The Department of Family and Children Services also sends biological parents to the center to complete required classes and work toward reunification with their children. With its expanded programming, the center’s classes are now reaching deeper into the community to support restoration and stability for families facing difficult circumstances.

Families enrolled in the program can attend classes, receive coaching, and obtain needed supplies for infants and young children. The Angel Babies Boutique offers children’s clothing and baby items, and proceeds from sales help fund the Center’s work. Clients can receive free items in the Boutique by earning Baby Bucks in the Earn While You Learn program. Every pregnant mom who enrolls in this program receives a free diaper bag and supplies for their newborn.

“We offer tangible help and spiritual hope,” Page said, adding that the center’s educational offerings now extend well beyond pregnancy confirmation and childbirth preparation.

Through a relationship-centered learning platform, families have access to hundreds of video-based classes in both English and Spanish that address topics such as healthy relationships, parenting skills, budgeting, communication, and personal growth. The lessons are designed to be practical and easy to access on any device, allowing clients to continue learning at home while staying connected to staff through secure messaging.

Page said the goal is not simply to help a woman through a pregnancy, but to equip families with tools that strengthen marriages, improve parenting confidence, and foster long-term stability. By combining personal coaching with structured, easy-to-follow lessons, the center aims to build strong foundations that carry families well beyond the early years of a child’s life.

New Life Care Center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome for classes and ultrasounds. Appointments are highly encouraged and can be scheduled by calling 706-253-6303 or visiting the organization’s website at newlifecarecenter.com.
