Press Release Pickens County Government

On Monday, May 6, Charles Reese Jr. began his first day as the Director of Planning and Development with Pickens County Government. The selection of Reese to serve in this role came after an extensive search and interview process that has been taking place over the past couple of months.

Reese brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of Planning, Zoning, and Community Development in several communities. These include the City of Euharlee, the City of McDonough, and Spalding County Georgia. He also completed Graduate School at Wright State University and is a graduate of the Certified Public Manager Program through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.

Following the extensive interview process, Chairman Kris Stancil stated that he is excited about the wealth of experience and the desire to work with the Pickens County Board of Commissioners to both protect our community and help in providing a well-planned approach to the growth that is occurring.

Stancil went on to say “the position of a Planning and Development Director requires a unique set of skills that include the knowledge of the regulation, the ability to work well with the citizens we serve, the ability to manage staff, and to apply common sense in the approach. With Charles, I believe we have found that person.”

In addition to the selection of Mr. Reese, Ashley Craig was promoted to the position of Assistant Director and will remain actively involved in working closely with the citizens and developers on the front line.
