General election risk limiting audit a success

On, November 18, 2022, the Pickens County Board of Elections office held the required Risk Limiting Audit for the November 8, 2022, general election. The Georgia Secretary of State Office notified Election Supervisor, Stacey Godfrey, which race, and ballots were to be hand counted.

The audit team consisted of six 2 person audit teams. Each panel was assigned a sealed tote with a batch of ballots to be counted for the Secretary of State race. Also present was the vote review panel, monitors representing each party, observers from the Carter Center, and staff from the election office.

The audit took approximately 3 hours and a total of 8,224 paper ballots were audited. The results from the hand count were 100 percent accurate with the total number of votes tabulated by the BMD touch screens and the ICP scanner. Pickens County Elections Board & staff were very pleased of the results of this audit and are very grateful to everyone who participated in the audit.
