Jasper Farmers Market Report

Submitted by the Jasper Farmers Market, Heather Giambra

With sunny skies the Jasper Farmers Market got off to a great start. Eggs are selling out fast these days so get there early for them. Squashes, onions, okra, and peppers galore fill more than one vendor’s table. Get sourdough breads from Oak & Oven or Sellers Sourdough, or biscotti and muffins from bakewurx, or pierogies from Ivana Eats and many other wonderful treats are available for your tastebuds to try. Need a Fall wreath or garden decor? There are plenty of options. Jewelry is another popular item to be found at several tents. Craftwork offers many unique choices for your home or for gifts. Robert Paradies of Paradise Horticulture Services, Inc. had his multiple trays of herbs full of choices like pineapple sage, french sorrel, and barbeque rosemary. Your garden probably needs something new like these?

Need a one of a kind stained glass window? Go see Brenda Romesburg. You can’t miss her color-full windows! Check out Nick and Ashley Riggin’s pasture raised meats and farm raised produce. There are so many wonderful vendors with wonderful items just needing a home with you. One last Saturday morning market is starting at 7:30 for the FM season. Marble Fest is coming and that means no FM that weekend, but the next Saturday, October 10th, the Jasper Farmers Market will begin at 9 a.m. and run until noon to accommodate the darker mornings and coming cooler season. And the Pickens County Master Gardeners aka extension volunteers will hold their last tent sale for the year. It will be another opportunity for you to help support the MGs and 4H with their projects. Fall is the best time to be planting and the MGs can explain why that is or answer other gardening questions you might have.
