Passersby may have noticed a large colorful You Are Loved mural on the back wall of the Jasper First Baptist on East Church Street.
The mural was designed and outlined by professional mural painter Alex Cook. Cook has worked in 21 states and six countries. Church members then filled in the sections, sort of like a paint by numbers, according to one church leader. Cook will then spend some time touching things up this week.
Bill Stone, of the First Baptist Church, said the goal was to send a positive message to the community. He said Cook has done similar murals with the You Are Loved message and heard feedback that they do make a difference, just seeing it when someone is down.
