Laughter ahead on Tater Patch stage

Four Wedding and an Elvis opens February 20th

Tater Patch

I had the opportunity last week to go to a rehearsal of Four Weddings and an Elvis, by Nancy Frick. I was there to work on lighting and take a few photos, but most of the time, I was laughing out loud.

The eleven characters in this show are each very distinct and all very funny.  We happily welcome to our stage again:  Steve Franzen, Jon Hayden, Tyler Roper, Nick Hull, Alex Nawrocki, Calvin Smith, and in his brief debut appearance, Mel Duval.

And, of course it’s not all guys.  We’re delighted to laugh at Phyllis Zerkle, Jan Weston, Ellen Painter and, in her first appearance with us, Beth Leonard.

They were all working hard on the final scene of the play that night. It’s one which involves all eleven of the cast.

Director Betsy Robbe, assisted by Jan Simpson, worked very hard making sure everyone was in a place they could be seen and heard and that the comic timing would be perfect.  And even they and the cast had a lot of laughs.

I urge you to come see this show.  It’s been a long dreary winter and you NEED to laugh!  As is our custom, the final dress rehearsal will be open to those who can’t afford tickets. Tater Patch asks for a donation of a bag or two of non-perishable foods or toiletry items in exchange for enjoying the final rehearsal.  “Share Night” rehearsal will be Thursday, February 20th at 7:30 p.m.

The performance dates will be February 21, 22, 23, 28 and March 1, 7, 8, 9.  The Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. and the others at 7:30 p.m. at the Tater Patch Players theater at 95 Philadelphia Lane in Jasper.  In addition to regular tickets, Tater Patch is once again offering Season Tickets at a price that gives you five shows for the price of four.

All tickets can be bought online at taterpatchplayers.org.

If you have questions, please either email the players at taterpatchplayers@gmail.com or phone 706-253-2800 and leave a message if none of our volunteers are available to answer.

Tater Patch would, I am sure, like me to tell you that they have always been, and still are, ALL VOLUNTEER, and you would always be a welcome addition to their busy group.
