Master Gardener Annual Plant Sale May 11

Submitted by Pickens Master Gardeners

Spring is such a delight, especially for our home gardens. The Pickens County Master Gardeners are busy planning their annual fundraiser plant sale to be held Saturday May 11th, from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The plants are from the Master Gardeners own garden, so are proven to grow in this area. The funds are used to promote MG community programs such as the Plant & Paint program held at the Library and will help support our 4H kids go to camp next Summer.

The sale will set up in the parking lot near the Veteran’s Memorial across from the Farmers Market.

It takes a lot of time and energy to pot up more than 500 plants to be available at the annual sale. It also takes a lot of time and energy to gather all the plants to deliver and set up for the sale. While the plants have been growing roots, the MGs are not letting the dust settle as they prepare for this event.

Customers will find many choices of flowering plants, trees, shrubs, herbs, perennials, biennials, and annuals. Some choice plants will be available in limited numbers, so first come, first serve is the rule. Woodland Iris, Chaste tree, viburnums, rush, gaillardia, crabapple, and hydrangeas are a sample of what will be available.

Hopefully, everyone will find something to add to their home gardens.
