Ben Cobb, new to Georgia Forestry Commission’s north Georgia management team.

New Georgia Forestry Management forester serving north Georgia counties

Submitted by Georgia Forestry Commission

The Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) has named Ben Cobb to its north Georgia Forest Management team.

Cobb will be based in Oakwood and will be providing forest management advice to landowners in Forsyth, Franklin, Gilmer, Hall, Lumpkin, Pickens, Towns, and Union counties.

Cobb, originally from Cordele, Ga., earned a degree in Natural Resource Management from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga.

Cobb joined the GFC seven years ago and has been working in its Flynt River Nursery, learning many skills relating to nursery crop production and seedling distribution to Georgia landowners and timber growers. Cobb was promoted from that position and will now serve the agency as a management forester.

Cobb said he has long dreamed of living in the North Georgia mountains. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, camping, and exploring the outdoors.
