The Rotary Club of Jasper is excited to announce a new $54,000 playground for Roper Park adjacent to the already-established Rotary Music Park.

“We have chosen this location to create a safe and secure play area for school-age children ages 5-12 at Roper Park which the Pickens County Recreation Department maintains,” said Rotary President Sharon Wofford.

This park, located next to the #6 and #7 ball fields which are used by young children aged 3 – 10 years old, will be available to the public. The intent is to provide not only a safe place to play but also for the children to have a playground close to parents watching games.

Rotary is funding the equipment, Southeast Outdoor Solutions is providing installation, the county recreation department is supplying the mulch and the Thrift Store is donating two park benches.

The playground falls under Rotary’s Maternal and Child Health Area of Focus and encourages physical activity.

“We are so excited to add a place where 38-45 children can play in safety,” Wofford said.
