Jerry Gibson

            Mr. Jerry Gibson, 78, of Jasper, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at Accent Care Hospice.

            Mr. Gibson is survived by his brothers and sister-in-law, Andy & Linda Gibson of Cartersville, and L.C. Gibson of Canton; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys & Lenard Childers of Jasper; brother-in-law, Horace Childers of Jasper; aunt, Mary Lou Pettigrew of Jasper; nieces and nephews, Teddy Childers, Penny Aaron, Dwight Childers, Vickie Smith, Roger Childers, Charlie Childers, Andrea McDaniel, Hope Tew, and Kevin Gibson; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Hub & Mary Gibson; sisters, Betty Childers and Patsy Morris; nephew, Doug Childers; great-niece, Allison McDaniel.

            Visitation is Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Grant Wade, Rev. Buck Parker, Rev. Matt Lathem, Rev. Ronnie Ray, and Rev. James Thompson, officiating.

            Interment will be at the church cemetery following the funeral service.

            Pallbearers: Teddy Childers, Charlie Childers, Dwight Childers, Roger Childers, Tony Aaron, and Lee McDaniel.

            The family requests in lieu of flowers, donate to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in honor of Jerry.

Grady Conner

            Grady L. Conner, 85, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

            Grady was a loving husband and loved to be with his family. He served in the Army, Army Active Reserve, and is a veteran of Desert Storm.

            He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Joyce Conner; parents, Arthur and Edith Conner; sister, Sylvia Akins; brothers, James Conner and Thomas Conner.

            Grady is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara & Lamar Puckett of Woodstock; sister-in-law, Brenda Conner of Jasper; several nieces and nephews.

            A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Harold Cantrell officiating.

Randy Long

April 1, 1950 – April 9, 2023

            Randy Long, 73, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, after an extended stay in Alabama, where he had lived for several years.

            Randy was a native of Pickens County. He was a craftsman in woodwork since the 1960s and was known as the man of chests.

            He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Renee and Mitchell Beavers of Dalton, Ga. and Tara Long of Fruithurst, Al; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Julie Long of Charlotte, NC, Cooper and Ashley Long of Fruithurst, Al; Colby Long of Fruithurst, Al, and Kingston Long of Fruithurst, Al; sisters and brother-in-law, Brenda and Emory Evans of Hinton Community, Ga. and Judy Long of Hinton Community, Ga.; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, special friend, Margie Bray.

            He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Floyd and Hazel Long; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob Cagle.

            Randy was well loved by his family and many friends in Alabama.

Bonnie Csomo

            Bonnie Csomo, 79, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away on April 23rd, 2023.

            No services are scheduled at this time.

            Care and Trust was placed with In Their Honor of Jasper.

Karen Massey

            Karen Leigh Massey, 42, of Ball Ground, Georgia passed away on April 18th, 2023.

            No services are scheduled at this time.

            Care and Trust was placed with In Their Honor of Jasper.

Denise Humphreys

            Denise H. Humphreys, 67, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on April 20th, 2023.

            No services are scheduled at this time. Care and Trust was placed with In Their Honor of Jasper.

Rita Miller

            Rita Sue Miller, 71, of Talking Rock, Georgia, formerly of Atlanta and Duluth, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at her home. She was born September 21, 1951 in Atlanta.  Rita graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School in 1969 and later worked at Home Depot Store 131 in Duluth. She loved working in the garden center with her beautiful flowers. She then worked for Scotts Miracle-Grow Lawn Services in Norcross.

            Rita is survived by her daughter, Angie Miller of Talking Rock, formerly of Duluth; son, Scott Miller of Camp Verde, Arizona, formerly of Duluth; grandson, Tyler James Miller of Arizona; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Karen Carlan of Buford, Georgia.  Many cousins in Atlanta, Stone Mountain, and Cornelia also survive.

            She was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle, who raised her, Lamar and Betty Tench; brother, Greg Tench; grandfather, Thomas Carlan; grandmother, Rosa Carlan; aunt, Margaret Prater.  

            Rita was a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and sister to many. She loved her children and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was devoted to Jesus and loved serving him faithfully. She was a Prayer Warrior who prayed for many, was a woman of Proverbs which she read over and over. She believed in “Feed My Sheep” and served God well in doing that.  John 21:15-25

            In lieu of cut flowers, the family would prefer indoor/outdoor plants.

            A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Richard Funk

            Richard Neal Funk died peacefully at age 85 on April 13, 2023. He was born January 16, 1938 in Ranger, Texas.

            Neal is survived by his loving wife, Millann; children, Deena (Lee) Seifert of Chapin, South Carolina, Missy (Lee) Pharris of Nolensville, Tennessee, and Marnee (Mike) Moore of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren, Meg (Blake) Zisman, Libby Harley and Sam Harley; great grandchildren, Zoey and Hazel; sister, Judy Burrow as well as a beloved nephew, niece and dear friends.

            He was predeceased by his parents, Pete and Pauline Funk.

            Neal was a disciple of Jesus Christ, a minister, a social worker and an employee of Bell South in his years before retiring to the mountains of Big Canoe.

            The family requests that, in place of flowers, donations be made to Big Canoe Chapel or Samaritans Purse.
