Phillip Johnson

            Phillip Stanley Johnson, 82, of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his home.  He was born November 18, 1939 to Carl and Victoria Johnson in Talking Rock.

            Phillip is survived by his wife, Kay Johnson of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kim Johnson of Talking Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Bobby Meyer of Cumming; grandchildren, Slade Johnson, Trey Johnson, Kate Meyer, Lauren Meyer; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Don Bloodworth of Blue Ridge; sister-in-law, Linda Johnson of Tate.  Several other relatives also survive.     

            Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Talking Rock Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Talking Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory. 

Arewill Mulkey

July 7, 1925 -November 28, 2021

            Mrs. Arewill Mulkey, 96, of Ranger, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Northside Hospital Cherokee.

            Mrs. Mulkey is survived by her son and daughters-in-law, Herman & Vonia Mulkey of Fairmount, and Becky Mulkey of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene & Van Rampley of Jasper; brothers, Waldo Stone of Talking Rock, and Rosco Stone of Talking Rock; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Harold Hightower and Rev. Randall Chastain officiating.

            Interment will be at Mountain Cemetery following the funeral service.

Imogene Stephens

            Imogene Stephens, 81, of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at her home. 

            She is survived by her husband, Tommy Stephens of Talking Rock, son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Sherrie Childers of Talking Rock, step-son, Gary Stephens of Calhoun, grandson, Andy Childers of Ranger, sister and brother-in-law, Denzell and Barry Bowman of Talking Rock, sister in law, Ethel Long of Talking Rock, several nieces and nephews also survive. 

            No services will be held at this time.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Barbara Childers

December 4, 1941 -November 27, 2021

            Mrs. Barbara Jean Childers, 79, of Jasper, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at her residence.

            Mrs. Childers is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Childers of Hinton, and Lamar & Kerri Childers of Hill City; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisha & Bo Hightower of Ludville, Ruby & David Helton of Gurley, AL, and Michelle & Bobby Wishon of Ellijay; daughter-in-law: Vivian Childers of Ludville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy & Sue Boling of Hinton, and Ricky & Trina Boling of Hinton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye & James Davis of Ellijay, and Susie & Charlie Mallory of Fairmount; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

            She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Childers; sons, Gerald Childers and David Childers.

            Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, with Rev. Stanley Mulkey and Rev. Pat Shelton officiating.

            Interment followed at the  church cemetery.

            Pallbearers: Mitchell Wilson, Chris Wilson, Cody Wilson, Austin Padgett, Raymond Carlile, James Long, Brandon Wilson, Alex Wilson, Thomas Wilson, and Dillon Wilson.

August 10, 1947 -November 26, 2021

            Ms. Sandra Fields, 74, of Jasper, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at Northside Hospital Cherokee.

            Ms. Fields is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joel & Carolyn of Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Pat & Charles Holmes of Fairmount; grandchildren, Chelsea, Whitney, Jacob, Alex, Noah, and Lucas; nephew, John Eidson.

            Funeral services were  held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Terry Burress officiating.

            The family requests in lieu of flowers, donate to Jasper Church of Christ building fund.

David Skaggs Sr.

            David Neal Skaggs, Sr., 79, of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. No services are planned at this time. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funeral and Cremations.

Betty Henderson

December 14, 1940 -November 24, 2021

            Ms. Betty Sue Henderson, 80, of Talking Rock, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

            Ms. Henderson is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John Allen & Charlotte Henderson of Ellijay, and Mark Anthony & Shannon Henderson of Talking Rock; daughter, Donna Sue Henderson of Talking Rock; daughter-in-law, Linda Henderson of Jasper; brother, Tony Hamby of MI; sisters and brother-in-law, Christine Brown of Madison, Sandy & Joey Pomeroy of MI, Brenda Dillon of MI, Glenda Fornier of MI, Ruby Jo & Larry Fish of TN, and Mary Beth Hull of MI; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

            She is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Donald Henderson; son, Michael Henderson; and parents, Walter & Martha Hamby.

            No services are planned at this time.

            The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help with funeral expenses.

J.R. Totherow Jr.

June 1, 1950 -November 24, 2021

            Mr. J.R. Totherow, 71, of Ball Ground, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

            Mr. Totherow is survived by his wife, Shirley Totherow of Ball Ground; sons, Keith Totherow of Ball Ground, and Bryan Totherow of Ball Ground; brother, Jimmy Totherow and Beth of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dotty & Richard Hamby of Nelson, Marie & Junior McTaggart of Nelson, Joella Forest of Jasper, and Martha & Terry Ray of Nelson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Martha & William Pool of Jasper, Tex & Debbie Byess, Donnie & Audra Fountain, John McPherson, and Jean McPherson;; grandchildren, Haley Totherow, and Joseph Totherow; several nieces and nephews.

            He is preceded in death by his parents, Garlen & Jewell; brother, Tim Totherow; sisters, Ruth Ann Beck, Lassie Heath, Onita, Shirley, and Christina.

            Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mark Henson and Rev. Stanley Mulkey officiating.

            Interment was at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral service.

            Pallbearers: Bobby Turner, Barry Heath, Allen Heath, Kenneth Beck, Kevin McTaggart, and Tom McTaggart. Honorary pallbearers: Leigh Bannister, and Kenneth Gay.

Zyndall Hulsey

September 19, 1960 -November 23, 2021

            Mr. Zyndall Hulsey, 61, of Ludville Community, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Northside Hospital Cherokee.

            Mr. Hulsey is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe & Mary Ann Hulsey of Ludville, Raymond & Kathy Hulsey of Kentucky, and Kenneth Hulsey of Ludville; sisters, Norma Jane Douglas of Kentucky, and Evelyn Taylor of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.

            A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Rymer Chapel; 60 Rymer Road West, Chatsworth, GA 30721.

Pete Huber

            Peter “Pete” James Huber, 87, of Big Canoe, Georgia, a United States Marine Veteran,  passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021. Services with honors by the Marine Corps League – North GA Mountain – Detachment 1280 will be 1 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home with family receiving friends one hour prior. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funeral and Cremations.

Scotty Hulsey

            Steven Scott “Scotty” Hulsey, 33, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021. He was born June 29, 1988 in Rome, Georgia. 

            Scotty is survived by his mother and step-father, Rebecca and Billy Marshall of Talbotton; father, Kenneth Hulsey of Jasper; grandmother, Shelby Hermanson of Jasper; brothers, Erik Hulsey of Ellijay, Jeremiah Hulsey of Ellijay; sister, Bridgett Miller of Talbotton; uncles, Russell Hulsey of Jasper, Tim Rampley of Ellijay; aunts and uncles, Sue and Rob Bishop of Ellijay, Racheal  Rampley and Buddy Irvin of Talbotton; nieces, Brooke Miller of Talbotton, Shelby Miller of Talbotton, Peyton Hulsey of Ellijay, Savannah Hulsey of Ellijay; nephew, Trenton Hulsey of Blue Ridge. 

            He was preceded in death by his sister, Heather Lynn Hulsey; grandfather, Roger Hulsey; grandfather, Sam Rampley; and grandmother, Shirley Rampley.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Jimmy Rampley officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. (3855 Hwy. 140; Rydal, GA 30171)

            The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Norma Willingham

            Norma Willingham, 86, of Alpharetta passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 after a brief illness. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She graduated from Trion High School in 1953. She worked at the (then) Lockheed Georgia Company as a secretary in Flight Test and Experimental Engineering for 35 years before retiring. After retirement, she moved to Erin, Tennessee. After the death of her husband, she returned to Georgia to be close to family.

            Norma is survived by her children, Brian R. Willingham, Clyde R. (Rusty) Willingham, Billie F. Willingham Jr. (Joy), Joyce Van Meel (Paul); grandchildren, Andrew Willingham (Brittany), Adam Willingham (Alyssa), Alex Willingham, Tara Willingham Rogers (Christian), Amy Nichole Willingham, Billie Willingham Walker (Devin); sister, Maxine Blevins of Phoenix, Arizona.  Numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren also survive.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie F. Willingham Sr.; son, Leslie Keith Willingham; parents, E. C. and Gertrude Maples; sisters, Joyce Brady, Roxie Green, and Audrey Butler.

            Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Erin, Tennessee.

            The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Betty Robson

            Betty Dean Robson, 74, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Grandview Health Center. 

            She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lanny and Tina Lusk of Jasper; grandchildren, Robert and Carmen Lusk of Jasper, Samantha and Jon Webb, Michelle and Jimmy Tidwell of Fairmount; great-grandchildren, Aspen Lusk, Kristina Young and Russell Young.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Dale Robson.  

            Graveside services were  held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Lake Forest Memorial Park  at 3 p.m. with Reverend Steve Taylor and Reverend Robert Lusk.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Sonia Tromby

            Sonia Plummer Tromby, 83, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Friday, November 26, 2021. No services are planned at this time. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funeral and Cremations.

Thomas Gearhart

            Thomas M. Gearhart, 64, of Ellijay, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021. No services are planned at this time. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funeral and Cremataions.

Jerry Higgins

            Jerry Franklin Higgins, 75, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021. He was born April 1, 1946 to James Franklin and Velma Higgins in Atlanta, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era on the USS Bryce Canyon AD-36 and the USS America CVN-66. He was a 40 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 613.

            Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Wilder Higgins of Jasper;  son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Scarlett Higgins of Holly Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Hall and Scott Morgan of Cumming; son, Jeffrey Higgins of Burnt Mountain; grandchildren, Tristan Higgins, Cole Hall, Zaylee Higgins, Skyler Higgins, Dallas Jarrett, and Preston Barnes.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. 

            He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Wade Higgins.

            A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.  

            The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home Friday, December 3, 2021 from  5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m.

            In lieu of flowers, make donations in honor of Mr. Higgins to Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jack Frainie

            Jack Anthony Frainie, 64, of Fairmount, Georgia passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. Mr. Frainie is survived by his wife of 26 years Susie. No services are planned at this time. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funeral and Cremations.

Phillip Strickland
