Florine Lackey

            Mrs. Florine McKinzey Lackey, 92, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 after a long illness. Mrs. Lackey was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed.

            Mrs. Lackey was born to the late Ada and Richard J. McKinzey and grew up in the Big Creek area of Forsyth County. She lived most of her life in Chamblee, GA, moving to Cumming in 2006.

            In addition to her parents and four sisters, Mrs. Lackey was predeceased by her husband, R.G. Lackey, Jr.; son, Stephen Neal Lackey and grandson, Christopher Fabian Lackey.

            Mrs. Lackey is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Larry) Wilson, Jasper, GA, Denise Howell, Decatur, GA, Lesa (Steve) Hagelin, North Wales, PA, Christi Lackey, Cumming, GA and grandsons, Alexander Howell, Bryan Hagelin, Nicholas Hagelin and granddaughter, Emily Howell, as well as several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

            The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The family will also receive friends prior to her service on Thursday, December 8 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Todd Speed will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelter, 5235 Union Hill Rd, Cumming, GA 30040 (furkids.org) or a charity of your choice.

Anthony Browning

August 19, 1954 – December 2, 2022

            Mr. Tony Browning, 68, of Murphy, NC, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at Chatuge Regional Hospital.

            Mr. Browning is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Browning-Poston, and Molly Browning; sister, Hope Wallin; grandchildren, Thomas Browning, Evan Soto, and Faith Browning; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Browning.

            A memorial service will be held at a later date.

            In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to: Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, 501 6th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL 33701.

Horace Williams

September 16, 1943 – December 2, 2022

            Mr. Horace Williams, 79, of Jasper, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at his residence.

            Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Sue Williams of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, David & Brenda Ray of Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Diane & Jon Ligon of Canton; granddaughter, Riley Ligon of Canton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rick & Diane Adams of Canton; special friends, Bubba & Teri Carney and Karrie Hitt; and nephew, John Dean.

            He was preceded in death by his brother, M.H. Williams; sister and brother-in-law, Ann & Stan Dean; and sister-in-law, Barbara Townson.

            Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Junior McTaggart officiating.

            Interment was at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum following the funeral service.

            Pallbearers: Barry Heath, Terry Haynes, David Silvers, Tim Howard, Jason Mayfield, and Phil McEntyre.

            The family requests in lieu of flowers, donate to American Cancer Society.

David Cagle

September 18, 1968 – November 28, 2022

            Mr. David A. Cagle, 54, of Jasper, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022 at his residence.

            David is survived by his daughters, Kaylea & Zack Petty of Four Mile Community, and Cheyenne Harrington of Jasper; brother, Kenny Lowe of Waleska; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy & Johnny Clark of Jasper, and Becky & William Mullins of Jasper; three grandchildren.

                        Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Ken Meadors, Rev. Butch Lark, and Teddy Duncan officiating.

            Interment was at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum following the funeral service.

            Pallbearers: John Saye, Bo Hightower, Benji Mayfield, Teddy Duncan, Rick Wilson, and Barry Heath.

            The family accepted flowers or donate to a charity of your choice.

Christi Buchanan

            Christi Lynn Buchanan, 51, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Piedmont Cartersville Hospital. She was born February 3, 1971 in Canton, Georgia.

            Christi is survived by her husband, Lamar Buchanan of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Felicia Dickerson of Bremen; daughter, Kristina Walker of Jasper; step-sons and daughter-in-law, Greg and Shawna Buchanan of Jasper, Jonathon Buchanan of Jasper; step-daughter, Melissa Buchanan of Jasper;  mother, Elouise and Howard Gilbert of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Melissa and Dave Gray, Julia Roland and Jeff Padgett, Tabitha and Kyle Thompson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Steve Walker; and 16 grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

            She was preceded in death by grandson, Joesyph Dickerson and father, Jimmy Dickerson.          

            Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery at 36 Camp Dobbs Road; Jasper, GA 30143.

            The family will receive friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 7 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory. 

John Angel

            John Angel, 74, of Waleska, Georgia passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. 

            John is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Angel of Waleska; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Lee and Lisa Angel; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Maggie Angel, Robert and Veret Angel, Bill and Janie Angel, Walter and Nan Angel; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

            John was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Frona Angel; brothers, Edward Angel and Jessie Angel.

            Services will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.

            The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Thursday, December 8 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.

            In lieu of flowers, Johnny had requested that donations be sent to Wounded Warriors Family Support at wwfs.org or 11218 John Galt Boulevard, Suite 103; Omaha, NE 68137.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Daniel Thomason

            Daniel Thomason, 76, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at his home. He was born September 29, 1946 to Andrew and Muriel Thomason in Jasper.

            Daniel is survived by his wife, Phyllis Thomason of Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Drew and Jinger Thomason of Calhoun; grandson, Colton Thomason of Calhoun; step-grandsons, Kevin Gilbert of Calhoun, David Gilbert of Calhoun; step-great-granddaughters, Abby Gilbert of Rome, Sember Gilbert of Rome; special niece, Angie Alexandersen of Cartersville; special niece and nephew, Marsha and Butch Brendel of Talking Rock; brother, Homer Thomason of Lilburn; and sister, Nora Bunch of Jasper.      

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Muriel  Thomason; siblings, Otis Thomason, Kathleen Wilson, Josephine Thomason, Geri Stewart, Marie Baker, and Joan Arp.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.,  Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at County Line Baptist Church with Reverend Jess Posey officiating. Interment will follow in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.

            The family will be receiving friends at County Line Baptist Church from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

June Rambler

            June Marion Rambler,  87, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. 

            June is survived by her husband, Richard Morgan Rambler of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Julia Rambler of Jasper and Richard Jr. and Susan Rambler of Jasper; seven grandchildren, 1 great grandson; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Mike Fetter of Houson, TX; two nieces and two nephews.           

            Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.

            The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
