Aleyda Rojas Mori

            Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On December 5th, 2021, Aleyda Rojas Mori, 64 years, rejoined her heavenly family. Aleyda was born July 3rd, 1957 to Vicente Rojas Hidalgo and Zoila Mori de Rojas in Luya, Peru. Aleyda was a woman of fierce love and strength for her family. She captured everyone’s heart with her honesty and loyal friendship. 

            She is survived by  her mother, Zoila Mori de Rojas; brothers, Leopoldo and Vicente Rojas; sisters, Mercedes Rojas, Nancy Rojas, Candelaria Robinson, Ine Rojas; daughters,  Leyla Lewis, Krystel Estrada, Mayra Richards; grandchildren, Ethan, Sid, Olivia, Leona, and Elena; her beloved nieces and nephews including Emily Robinson. 

            A funeral mass was held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2021 at Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church with Father Tri officiating.  

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory. 

Sherrie Childers

            Sherrie Lynne Childers, 58, of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at Advent Health Gordon. She was born September 29, 1963 to Jack and Mary Lou Woody in Canton, Georgia.

            Sherrie is survived by her husband, Eric Childers of Talking Rock; mother Mary Lou Woody of Fairmount, stepfather, Thomas Stephens of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Kodi Carnes of Calhoun; daughter, Ashley Carnes of Fairmount; brother, Anthony Woody of Fairmount; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Dwaine Walters of Fairmount; grandchildren, Khloe Carnes, Kailey Carnes, Hannah Carnes, Bryson Carnes, Ayden White; nephews, Cameron Crider, Jesse Crider, Tyler and Autumn Woody, James Woody.  She was preceded in death by father, Jack Woody and daughter, Kristie Leonard.

            Sherrie was a shining light to everyone she met. (Mama)

            A memorial service is being planned for a future date.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dylan Hollifield

            Dylan Slade Hollifield, 27, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December  7, 2021 at his home. He was born July 3, 1994 to the late Douglas Hollifield and Adrian Allgood Wilson. 

            Survivors include his mother and step-father, Adrian and Tony Wilson of Jasper; brother, Anthony Silvers of Jasper; sisters, Valerie Jarrett of Ball Ground, Kayla Hollifield of Talking Rock, Sydney Carver of Jasper; step-brother, Jonathan Wilson of Jasper; grandmother, Ella Mae Reece of Jasper; nieces, Carissa Milsap, Victoria Wright, Ellie Jarrett, Dolly Davis; nephews, Ashton Silvers, Christian Wright, Talon Jarrett, and Lincoln Priest.  A host of other family members and friends also survive.

            He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Hollifield and sisters, Jodi Hollifield and Leah Hollifield.

            The funeral service was held at  11 a.m. on  Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Rev. Anna Walker, Rev. Jerry Stewart and Rev. Danny Townsend officiating. The interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Brett Mullins

July 12, 1982 -December 9, 2021

            Mr. Brett Mullins, age 39 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021.

            Brett is survived by his wife, Kristen Mullins of Jasper; son, Hagen Brett Mullins of Jasper; daughter, Hallie (Bee) Mullins of Jasper; parents, William and Becky Mullins of Jasper; sister, Miranda Mullins of Jasper; mother-in-law, Tammy Carter and Scottie Buchanan; nephews, Zayne Carter and Noah Anderson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

            He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Helen Cagle, Frances and Gary Cunningham, and Hobert and Peggy Mullins.

            Visitation is Sunday, December 12, 3 p.m. until 9 p.m., Monday, December 13, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Tuesday, December 14, 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.

            Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Huggins and Rev. Danny Townsend officiating.

            Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, following the funeral service.

            Pallbearers: Brian Wood, Josh Bail, Michael Bail, Bubba Payne, Dennis Ponders, Isaac Bridges, Austin Carter, Matthew Wright, Phillip Black, and Shannon Stancil.

            In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a trust fund for his children, Hagen and Hallie, in care of Kristen Mullins, at Community Bank in Jasper.

            Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mullins family.

Patricia Franklin

            Patricia A. Franklin passed away peacefully at her home in Canton Georgia, December 4th, 2021. 

            She is proceeded in death by her parents Sara Irwin, Pete Barfield, and her husband James Franklin. 

            She is survived by her daughters, Candice Johns and Linsey Atkinson; granddaughters, Sydney & Sara Johns; grandsons, Riley & Remington Atkinson; son-in-laws, Chris Johns and Rick Atkinson; her sister, Christy Seay Panama City Beach, Fl.  Several nieces & nephews as well. 

            She was laid  to rest at Lake Forest Memorial Park with her husband. We love you GoGo.

Virginia “Pete” Coker

November 5, 1947 -December 14, 2021

            Ms. Pete Coker, 74, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at her residence.

            Ms. Coker is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Barbara Coker of Jasper, Brian Coker of Jasper, and Chris Coker of Jasper; daughter, April “Sissy” Marlow of Jasper; brother, Gary Nicholson of Hickory Flat; sisters, Charlotte Wilson of Jasper, Jimmy Sue Godfrey of Jasper, and Wanda Carver of Jasper; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

            Visitation is Wednesday, December 15, 3 p.m. until 9 p.m., and Thursday, December 16, 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.

            Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Emory Samples and Rev. Danny Townsend, officiating.

            Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, following the funeral service.

            Pallbearers: Tyler Buckles, Dalton Coker, Thomas Marlow, Danny Wilson, Michael Ponders, and Marty Wilson. Honorary pallbearers: Gene Darby and Rodney Smith.
