Jackie Nation

            Mrs. Jackie Pope Nation, 59, of Ball Ground, Georgia passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. She was a retired teacher from the Pickens County Board of Education.  She was preceded in death by her father, Sonny Anderson

            Survivors include her  mother, Annette Anderson; sons, Bobby Pope (Nicole) and Andy Nation; sister and brother-in-law, Hayley and Corey Nibert; father of her son, Chris Nation; mother-in-law, Joy Pope Mabry; granddaughter, Mia Nation; grandson, Bobby Pope IV; nieces, Katy Nibert and Shay Nibert;  her significant other, Todd Ellerbee.  A host of friends, cousins, and other family members also survive.          Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with Rev. David Pope, Rev. Steve Chadwick, Rev. Steven Chapman, and Jackie Gise    officiating.   Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

            The family will accept flowers or those who desire may make donations to Pleasant Union Baptist Church c/o Charles Hammontree.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory. 

Cindy Mulkey

April 17, 1960 -December 24, 2021

            Mrs. Cindy Mulkey, 61, of Talking Rock, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

            Mrs. Mulkey is survived by her husband, Danny Mulkey of Talking Rock; son, Daniel Mulkey of Talking Rock; sister, Linda Hancock of Salacoa; half-sister, Tracy Kincaid; several nieces and nephews.

                        Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Stanley Mulkey and Rev. Joseph Hightower officiating.

            Interment was at Sunrise Memorial Gardens following the funeral service.

            Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mulkey family.

Catherine Mann

April 17, 1946 -December 22, 2021

            Mrs. Catherine Jay Mann, 75, of Big Canoe, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

            Mrs. Mann is survived by her husband, John Mann of Big Canoe; daughter and son-in-law, Abigail & Ed Whittle of Milton; sister, Lynn Coleman of Cherokee County; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

            A memorial service will be held at a later date.

            Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mann family.

Jim Quinton

            James “Jim” Waldroup Quinton, 92, of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care in Cumming. He was born March 29, 1929 to Jessie James Quinton and Katie Ophelia Waldroup Quinton in Pickens County.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Quinton.

            Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cynthia Quinton of Dawsonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Jack Murphy of Cartersville, Debbie and Mark Callahan o f Broadway, Virginia; brother, Don Quinton of Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Fred Gilbert of Jasper; grandchildren, Shanda Roberts (Chris), Lisa Pietro, Katie McCallen (Mike), Michael Quinton (Erica), Quinton Callahan (Karen), Cody Callahan (Taryn), Kelly Callahan; and 12 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Talking Rock Baptist Church with Reverend Buck Parker and Reverend Grant Wade officiating. Interment will follow in the Talking Rock Baptist Church Cemetery where there will be a Graveside Masonic Service. Pall Bearers will be Quinton Callahan, Cody Callahan, Michael Quinton, Jeff Quinton, Donnie Matthews, Mike McCallen, Thomas Quinton, and Chris Roberts.  Honorary Pall Bearers are Tony Parks, Parker Roberts, and Tanner Roberts.

            The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.; and Thursday from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.

            The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Talking Rock Baptist Church. The family requests that no food be brought to the funeral home and while visiting the funeral home or church, please wear a mask.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Masonic Resolution on the death of Brother Herman Ray

            To the Worshipful Master, Warden, and Brethren of Pickens Star Lodge #220 F&A.M. Jasper, Georgia. Whereas, on October 8, 2021 it was the will of the Grand Architect of Heaven and Earth to call from Labor to Refreshment our beloved Brother Herman Ray

            And whereas we, his brethren, feel keenly his absence from our midst, and while we humbly bow to the will of our Infinite Creator, we desire to make a suitable Memorial, therefore:

            Be it resolved that Pickens Star Lodge No. 220 F&A.M. express to the family of our departed Brother, deepest sympathy and wish to express our gratitude for his life of service among us.

            Be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the bereaved family of our departed brother,

            A copy to be spread on our minutes and a copy by published in the Pickens County Progress.
