Dorothy Bell
April 12, 1932 – January 7, 2017
Mrs. Dorothy Moss Bell, 84, of Talking Rock, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Mary Bell of Talking Rock; daughters and son-in-law, Wanda and Larry Austin of Canton, Brenda Chatham of Talking Rock, Jackie Humphrey of Talking Rock, and Tammy Bell of Talking Rock; brother, Tommy Moss of Talking Rock; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Melvin Hughes of Jasper; sister-in-law, Geraldine Bell of Talking Rock; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, Buster (Buck) Bell; her parents, Grady and Lola Hefner Moss; her brother, Junior Moss; and brother-in-law, Bee Bell.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10 at Antioch Baptist Church with Revs. Gene Childers and Moss Fountain officiating. Interment at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Bell, Don Bell, Daniel Bell, Doug Bell, Richard Powell, and Tommy Bunch.

David Chastain
March 27, 1983 – January 17, 2017
Mr. David “Little Bill” Chastain, 33, of the Ludville Community, passed away Tuesday January 17, 2017 as the result of an accident.
Mr. Chastain is survived by his father, David Chastain of the Ludville Community and his mother, Linda Hembree of the Ludville Community; grandfather, Albert Mulkey of the Ludville Community and grandmother, Verna Lee Hathcock of the Ludville Community; sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Cobb of Whitestone, Wendy Chastain of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and Tasha Hembree of Seneca, SC; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 20th from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home. Interment at Black Knob Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dale Chastain, Jason Young, Matt Young, Randy Young, Donnie Fountain, Jerry Lee Bunch, and honorary pallbearers Joe Chastain and Ronnie Kojack.

Oma Owen
February 25, 1926 – January 19, 2017
Mrs. Oma Lee Owen, 90, of Canton, passed away Thursday January 19, 2017 at Canton Nursing Home.
Mrs. Owen is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Treena and James Grimes of Cumming and Brenda and Edsel Manous of Canton; son-in-law, Bill Moody of Harrison, TN; grandchildren, Sharon Moody Stone, Sandy Moody Jones, Stephanie Grimes and Mike Thomas, and Jason and Rose Grimes; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Owen and her daughter, Joyce Owen Moody.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 22nd from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Ministers Michael Thomas and Tommy Pettyjohn officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Micah Thomas, Jason Grimes, Robert Lamb, Billy Garrison, John Chatham, and Jake Padgett.

Ann Cagle
Ann W. Cagle, 85, of Canton, GA passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at Brookdale at Riverstone.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Emmett officiating. Interment followed at Cheatham Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Cagle; daughter, Sandra Cagle; and sister, Blanche Faye Rhodes.
Survivors include her sister, Nell McLouth, Montana;
sister-in-law, Marguerite Cagle Gibson. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Patricia Compton
February 23, 1939 – January 14, 2017
Patricia “Pat” Ann Compton, 77, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away suddenly, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at her home with her family and a few friends by her side.
She was born on February 23, 1939 to Lorena “Bobbie” Koehler and Charles Carpenter in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband, Oren Compton of Acworth, Georgia; children, Oren Edward Compton, Jr. (Sandra) of Dallas, Texas, Lisa Kizer (Byron) of Woodstock, Georgia, Maria O’Connell (Kevin) of Canton, Georgia, Sue Doctor (David) of Dunwoody, Georgia; grandchildren, Tyler Kizer of Woodstock, Troy Kizer of Woodstock, Olivia O’Connell of Canton, Blake O’Connell of Canton, Jordan Battersby of Dunwoody, Cosette Doctor of Dunwoody, Caroline Doctor of Dunwoody, Cornelius Doctor of Dunwoody; puppies, Bella, Annie, Maggie Mae, Honey, and Traveler.
She was a graduate of Norwood High School in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1957 completing a study of cosmetology. She was married for 57 years with the last 19 of those years residing on a mountain top in Jasper, Georgia. Pat was a member, served on committees and a volunteer to organizations including The Classic Glass Corvette Club, Samaritan Health and Wellness Center of Pickens County, American Lady Auxiliary, The Bent Tree Lake and Wildlife, and as an event organizer including Hostess to Casino Night, New Year’s Eve, Halloween, donations organizer and others.
If there was only one friend you could have, Pat Compton was the one and only to have. She was a survivor of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Most recently, she was fighting a courageous battle with bladder cancer that took her from us too soon. God called Pat home and she listened.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2017 at Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church with Father Charles Byrd officiating. Inurnment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Rosanna Lucian
October 22, 1920 – January 16, 2017
Rosanna Cyr Lucian, 96, of Jasper, Georgia passed into eternal rest on January 16, 2017. Rosanna was born in Quebec, Canada on October 22, 1920 to Jeanne and John Cyr.
Rosanna immigrated to the United States in the 1930’s. She married Leonard Lucian of Waterbury, Connecticut on January 20, 1947.
Rosanna is survived by her daughter, Marguerite Lucian of Jasper, GA; son, Vincent Lucian of Jasper, GA; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Lucian; father, John Cyr; mother, Jeanne Cyr; and all 12 siblings.
The family requests privacy during their time of grieving and conducted a closed, private viewing for immediate family members only on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Roper Funeral Home in Jasper, GA. Robert Via
March 14, 1944 – January 20, 2017
Mr. Robert Lewis “Bob” Via, 72, of Jasper, passed away after an extended illness. He was born in Beckley, West Virginia to the late Lewis Stewart Via and Opal Montgomery Via. Mr. Via was a graduate of Marshall University and later obtained his Master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Hospital Administration. He retired from the Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro, Georgia as hospital administrator. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Michelle Via.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Via of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Hunter and Amy Via of Santa Clarita, California; grandson, Jackson Via of Santa Clarita, California.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Jasper with Reverend Greg Pope officiating. The entombment followed at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
The family request in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Jasper.
