Paula Duke

            Paula Elaine Duke, 70, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022 at her home.  She was born May 18, 1951 to Ralph and Carolyn Atkins in Jasper. 

            Elaine is survived by her husband, Donald Duke of Jasper; children, Jeff and Lisa Duke of Jasper, Jenny and James Cox of Jasper; sister, Kathy Abernathy of Blairsville; grandchildren,  April  Daman of Jasper, Brandon Edwards of Jasper, Ashley Cox of Jasper, Jacob Cox of Jasper; great-grandchildren, Kinzley Daman, Kloe Daman, and Konner Daman.     

            Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Ronald Pruitt and Reverend Leroy Kelley officiating. Interment followed in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy Fann, Larry Fann, Robert Pierce, James Cox, Jacob Cox, and Vaughn Kelley.

            The family accepted flowers or donations in honor of Elaine may be made to the American Cancer Society.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Thomas Watson

            Thomas Sanford Watson, 72, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was born February 23, 1950 to Wendall and Lela Belle Watson in Holly Springs.

            Thomas is survived by his wife, Barbara Watson of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tiffany Watson of Jasper; stepchildren, Josh Bail of Jasper, Michael Bail of Jasper, Jessica Byess of Jasper, Michelle Godfrey of Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Harry Reed of Waleska; 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

            Sanford and Son Memorial Cruise-In will be held May 14, 2022 at The Mill at Etowah in Canton. Setup will begin at 7:30; food and drinks will begin at 12. Join the family in celebrating the life of Thomas Sanford Watson by bringing your ride, your stories, and your pictures.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Frankie Atkins

            Frankie M. Atkins, 82, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Pruitt Health in Jasper. She was born July 18, 1939 to Turner and Carrie Taylor in Jasper.

            Mrs. Atkins is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Tammy Cox of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Keith Bowerman of Canton; daughter, Judy Hales and Greg Dobson of Jasper; daughter, Robin Henderson of Jasper; sister, Janie Moore of Jasper; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Atkins.  

            Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2022 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Nathan Mosley

            Nathan Harold Mosley, 62, of Ellijay, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022. No services are planned at this time. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funerals and Cremations.

            The family of Delmer McDaniel would like to thank everyone who called, visited, brought food, sent flowers and prayed for us.

Peggie Chapman

            Peggie L. Chapman, 83, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022 at her home.  She was born July 13, 1938 to Carter and Lois Low in Jasper. She was married to the late Charles Chapman; was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper; and was a teacher in the Pickens County School System.

            Peggie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Mark Miller of Jasper; son, Clint Chapman of Jasper; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Chapman and her parents, Carter and Lois Low.

            Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at The First Baptist Church of Jasper.  Interment followed in the Jasper City Cemetery.

            The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in her honor be made to the First Baptist Church of Jasper, the Jasper Lions Club, the Georgia Lions Lighthouse, or the Georgia Lions Camp.

            Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory. 

Barry Ray

January 2, 1963 – May 6, 2022

            Mr. Barry Ray, 59, of Canton, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

            Mr. Ray is survived by his father, John Ray of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Travis & Heather Ray of Tyler, TX, Barry & Emmy Ray of West Alexander, PA, and Marcus Ray of West Alexander, PA; brother and sister-in-law, Gary & Suzanne Ray of Jasper; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

            No services are scheduled at this time.

            Paula Wyatt, 68, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022. No services are planned at this time. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funerals and Cremations.

Joanne Jackson

            Joanne Jackson, 63, of Dawsonville, Georgia passed away Friday, May 6, 2022. No services are planned at this time. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funerals and Cremations.
