Don Mullinax
William “Don” Mullinax, 91, of Cagletown Community in Pickens County, Georgia, passed away at his home on October 30th surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mildred Cagle Mullinax; parents, Mack and Lola Mullinax; brothers, Milton and Weldon Mullinax; and sisters, Eva Mullinax and Faye Perry. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and David Johnson of Jasper; daughter, Kim Anderson of Jasper; grandsons, Daniel Johnson of Jasper and Luc Anderson of Jasper.
Don was a member and Ordained Deacon of Bethany Baptist Church. He grew up in the Hill City Community of Pickens County, Georgia. Don remembers coming home from hoeing barefoot to see their first light bulb come on when the REA brought power to Hill City. As a young man he trapped rabbits to save up for his first car. He served in the US Army as a Clerk from 1952 thru 1955 and attained the rank of Sergeant but fortunately did not have to go overseas. He worked with Georgia Department of Transportation in Ellijay for over 30 years. Don served as Sole Commissioner of Pickens County for 4 years starting in 1993. He was very proud of what was accomplished during his term. He was a life-long cattle farmer, and referred to his livestock as his “babies.”
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2023 at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Buck Parker, Reverend Sam Mullinax, and Reverend Ed Sims officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery at 2540 Bethany Road; Jasper, Georgia 30143. Pallbearers will be Daniel Johnson, Scott Reed, David Bruce, Tom Hulsey, Ben Gilleland, and Terry Thomason.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m.; Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday, November 3, 2023 from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
The family will accept flowers or donations to the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Fredrick Cain
April 6, 1947 – October 23, 2023
Fredrick Hamilton Cain Sr., 76, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home.
Survivors include his daughter, Kacie Cain of Cottondale, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Fredrick H. “Rex” and Tina Cain of Mableton; son and daughter-in-law, Tadd and Ashley Cain of Ellijay; sisters, Geraldine Carr of Jasper, Brenda Massey of Temple; brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Marsha Cain of Dallas, Jerry and Loretta Pass of Douglasville. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Fredrick was preceded in death by his wife, Venita Ann Cain, parents Troy and Melba Cain, and step mother Edna Cain.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Roper Pavilion on Refuge Road in Jasper. The family will hold a Potluck Picnic Memorial, so bring food to share and an extra chair.

Audrey Gartrell
Audrey Victoria (Garland) Gartrell, 90, of Ellijay, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Audrey was born February 21, 1933, in Whitestone, GA to the late Clifford and Ermia Cleo (Coffey) Garland. Audrey was a member of the Whitestone Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Lodge 340 and was an Assistant Mail Clerk at the Whitestone Post Office. Audrey is preceded in death by her husband Mayor of Ellijay Henry C. Gartrell, and daughter Teresa Odell Gartrell.
Audrey is survived by her nieces Valerie Holbrook, Lisa Anita and Scott Espelin, Butte, MT, Mary Gartrell Jones, Jasper, GA, Linda Gale McEver, Tampa, FL, and nephew Tony A. Garland, White, GA. Tim Gartrell, Jasper, GA, and several family and friends survive.
The funeral service was held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Whitestone Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Johnson, Rev. Bryon Tillery, and Rev. Daniel Reece officiating.

John Jones
John David Jones, 51, of Jasper passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at his home. He was born May 28, 1972 to Hobert and Jimmie Nell Jones in Jasper, Georgia.
John is survived by his wife, Jenny Jones of Jasper; daughters, Brianna Jones of Cartersville, Kaylie of Jasper; son, Khobe of Jasper; brother, Dorsey Jones of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Joey and Angie Jones of Jasper; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alex, Dennis, Dandy, and Jovelene. Several nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive. He also leaves behind his beloved dog “Little Boy” Jagger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Jimmie Nell Jones and mother-in-law, Dolores Lacuzong.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with William Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Free Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
