Earl Whiteley
Earland “Earl” Scott Whiteley, 91, of Lyman, SC, passed away August 28, 2023 at Greenville Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Earl is survived by his wife, Beverly of Lyman; son, Earl Jackson and wife Jackie of Charleston; and daughter, Linda Whiteley-Lowery of Kansas City. MO. Earl was blessed with granddaughters, Aubriell of Charleston, Jeni, Christy, Lindsey, Sara, and grandsons, Darrell and David all of Kansas City. A loving adopted grandson, Jack Walker of Princeton, WV; and several great grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by parents, his son, David and his granddaughter, Allie.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Living Waters Funeral Home & Crematory. A Home Going Celebration will begin at 2 p.m.
A Celebration of Earl will also be held in Charleston, SC in October.
James Garrett
Mr. James Edward Garrett, 71, of Ball Ground, passed away on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023 at his home.
Mr. Garrett was born on May 29th, 1952 in Jonesboro, GA to the late John Bunyon Garrett and the late Grace McDaniel Garrett. He loved to fish, play music, spend time with his family, and loved playing in his band. In addition to his parents, Mr. Garrett is preceded in death by all of his 15 siblings.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Deborah Garrett; three sons, Shawn (Glenda) Garrett, Robert Garrett, and Hank Garrett; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey (Leon) Garrett; mother-in-law, Betty Underwood; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 8 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Loner and Speaker, Sheila Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Luke Garrett, James Garrett Jr, Johnny Garrett Sr, Deegan Garrett, Bryson Garrett, Brandon Garrett, Shawn Garrett, and Robert Garrett.
The family would like to thank his granddaughter, Kyleigh Garrett for taking such good care of him the last days of his life.

Mike Haswell
Michael (Mike) William Haswell, 82, passed away on August 28, 2023 at Northside Hospital Gwinnett after a short illness. He was watching his beloved Atlanta Braves and talking about his family in his final hours.
He was born December 18, 1940 to Frank Perdon Haswell and Mildred Lavonch (Marchante) Haswell in Akron, Ohio and attended high school in Chattanooga, TN. Mike earned his degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, in Industrial Engineering, was active in the ROTC program and a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Post college Mike entered military service as a Lieutenant in the Ordinance Corps and served in the Army in Korea.
Mike enjoyed a successful business career with the Trane Company before turning his sights on the real estate development market in Atlanta and later in Jasper, GA. He was a devoted member, elder, and deacon of Trinity Church in Jasper where one of his most cherished positions was serving on the stewardship committee.
Known as Mi Mike by his grandchildren, he was a loyal fan of all Atlanta sports teams. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and imparting old-fashioned wisdom. He will be remembered for his jocular disposition and willingness to offer advice to anyone that would listen. He will never be forgotten and missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Tonya) Haswell Jr, Kristina (Jack) Sensing, and Kip (Terri) Haswell. Mike is the Grandfather of Sam (Danielle) Sensing, Katie Sensing, Tyler Haswell, Thomas (Hailey) Haswell, Michaela (Gavin) Sylvester, Truett (Abby) Haswell, Christopher Haswell, Noah Sensing, two Great Grandsons Charlie and Cooper, and another expected Great Grandson in October. He also survived by, His sister Patricia Conklin, the mother of his children, Bertie Haswell, and his dearest friend Susan Carter Lee.
Visitation will be September 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church in Marble Hill followed by the funeral service at noon. (2685 Steve Tate Highway /Marble Hill, GA 30148) Internment will follow for family members.

George McCrory, 76, a United States Army Veteran, of Jasper, Georgia (Bent Tree Community) died Monday, September 4, 2023. No services are scheduled at this time. Care and Trust was placed with In Their Honor of Jasper.
Brett Bozeman
William Brett Bozeman, 41, of Ball Ground, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was born September 21, 1981 to William Felix and Mary Ann Bozeman in Marietta, Georgia.
Brett is survived by his wife, Julie Bozeman of Ball Ground; daughter, Josie Bozeman of Ball Ground; son, Clay Bozeman of Ball Ground; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ginger and Corey Pittman of Talking Rock; nieces, Lillie, Sophie, Maggie Pittman of Talking Rock; mother-in-law, Cathy Caylor of Talking Rock. Several aunts and uncles also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cotton Bozeman; mother, Mary Ann Bozeman; and father-in-law, John W. Caylor.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 3, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Burt and Reverend Alan Day officiating. Interment followed in the Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.

Fanny Whitaker
Fanny Mae Whitaker, 92, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and David Terry of Virginia; daughter, Judy White of Blairsville; daughter-in-law, Gloria Whitaker of Jasper; son, Paul Whitaker of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Fanny was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Whitaker; son, Benny Whitaker; son, David Whitaker; son, Marlon Whitaker; daughter, Patricia Whitaker; and son, David Thomas Whitaker.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 at Lake Forest Memorial Park with Pastor Ben Mock officiating.

Kai Rich
Douglas Kai Isaiah Rich, 37, of Ball Ground, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at his home. He was born August 3, 1986 in Roswell, Georgia.
Kai is survived by his wife, Melissa Rich of Ball Ground; son, Douglas Cade Gabriel Rich of Ball Ground; parents, Judy Williams of Ball Ground, Douglas Rich of Jasper; step-father, Billy Williams; sibling, Johnny and Dana Greenway of Jasper; nieces and nephews, Jaelyn Greenway, Luke Greenway, Kyle Grno, Harley Smith, Drew Ellis, and Emersyn Jean Hill.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Taryn Rich.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 at Ball Ground Baptist Church with Landon Zilbert and Adam Roberson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnny Greenway, Joseph Cowart, Robert Hillhouse, Kevin Duncan, Lonnie Coffin, Jacob Bryant, and Joshua Hill. Honorary pallbearers were Landon Zilbert, Adam Roberson, and Cade Rich.

Vicky Elaine McBee, 41, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at her home. She was born May 18, 1982 to Larry and Betty McBee in Canton, Georgia.
Vicky is survived by her mother, Betty McBee of Jasper; sisters, Tabitha McBee of Jasper, Amanda Jordon Walker of Panama City, Florida; nieces and nephews, Siera Lacy of Jasper, Hunter Lacy of Jasper, Chey Frady Jr. (Trish) of Cumming, Abby Walker of Ellijay, Allison Walker of Ellijay, and Alyssa Kelley of Panama City. Other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry McBee, grandparents, Pap and Irene Howard; brothers-in-law, Jesse Frady and Terry Lacy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Allen Garrett officiating. Interment followed at Lake Forest Memorial Park.

Edward C. Buchanan, 67, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at his home. He was born September 8, 1955 to Homer and Hazel Buchanan in Tate, Georgia.
Ed is survived by his wife, Margaret Buchanan of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Justin Hamrick; son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Morgan Fleming; grandchildren, Jamie Hamrick, Delilah Hamrick, Foster Fleming; sister, Dianne Buchanan; brothers and step-sisters, Sharon Haynes, Debra Faucett, Tim Wofford, Gail Ray, John Castleberry, Eddie Castleberry, L. W. Castleberry, and Hazel Castleberry. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by parents, Homer and Hazel Buchanan; brothers, Ted Buchanan, Fred Buchanan; sister, Brenda Wofford.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.

Roger Wooten
Roger Brooks Wooten, 74, of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1948 to Brooks and Ruthelle Wooten in Jasper.
Roger is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Wooten and Jeff Dodd of Fairmount; son, Jason Wooten of Jasper; grandchildren, Skyler Wooten, Dakota Dodd; great-granddaughter, Zerenity Wooten; step-children, Perry Christopher and Family, Kimberly Tucker and Family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Wooten; mother and father, Brooks and Ruthelle Wooten; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Wilma Wooten.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 12 noon until 8 p.m.
