Verna Hill
Verna Winnell Hill, lovingly nicknamed Sunshine, 77, of Talking Rock, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Mrs. Hill was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and arts & crafts. She was a lover of all animals, especially cats. She enjoyed baking and sampling all of her treats, especially chocolate treats.
She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Velma Morgan, her husband, Bobby Lee Hill, a daughter, Connie Hill, her brother Marvin Morgan and her sister, Annette Gayler. She is survived by daughter Wendy Bright of Hastings, Florida; daughter Missy Mayfield of Douglasville, Georgia; a son Robbie Dustin (Dusty) Hill of Talking Rock, Georgia; a son Rick Hill of Benton, Tennessee; son Gary Hill and wife Paula of Calhoun, Georgia; son Mark Hill and wife Tammy of Talking Rock, Georgia; brother Henry Morgan and wife Brenda of Villa Rica, Georgia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Sunshine” is also survived by her special baby, Tiny Toes. A special thank you to her granddaughter, Shanna Allen, for the many years of helping her parents provide the love and care Mrs. Hill needed. A special thank you to her niece, Tina Locke, for always being available to celebrate and love Mrs. Hill. The family would like to thank North Georgia Personal Care, Georgia Mountains Hospice and the many nurses and aids that helped love, care for and keep Sunshine home with our loving family. The love and support Sunshine has received from many friends and family near and far has been amazing and greatly appreciated.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life to honor Mrs. Hill on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the family home. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper Funerals and Cremation.
Claudia Buckner
Claudia Buckner, 98, passed to her heavenly home Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Claudia is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gramling; sister, Minalee Mullinax; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Diane Dean; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Lula Dean; her husband, John D. Buckner; her son, Johnny D. Buckner; her grandson, Jason Alan Gramling; and her brother, Herbert Dean.
She was a longtime member of Ball Creek Baptist Church in Talking Rock.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Cantrell officiating. She was laid to rest next to her husband and son in the Ball Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 11340 Highway 136 West; Talking Rock, GA 30175.
The family accepted flowers or memorial donations may be made to Ball Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at PO Box 52; Talking Rock, GA 30175.
Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Thomas E. Johnson, 73, of Salisbury, North Carolina, a United States Army Veteran, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023. Interment will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 21 in Georgia National Cemetery. Care and trust placed with In Their Honor of Jasper.
Mary Ledbetter
Mary Lois Ledbetter, 81, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Grandview Health Center. She was born November 9, 1941 to Emmett and Minnie Wigington in Tate, Georgia.
Lois is survived by her granddaughter, Vallon and Josh Underwood of Jasper; great-grandchild, Cohen Underwood of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Martha Wigington of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Barbara Wigington of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Barbara R. Wigington of Jasper; special friend, John Carver of Marietta. Several nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emmett Wigington; mother, Minnie Wigington; husband, George “GW” Ledbetter; daughter, Valerie Burgess; and brother, Dewey Wigington.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment followed in the Amicalola Baptist Church Cemetery.
